Patricia Grey (UKCP, MBACP)
8-26 Bath Street
People seek therapy for all sorts of reasons. It may be a specific crisis or problem that you need help with, you may wish to get in touch with yourself at a deeper level, to try to unravel the patterns that seem to hold you back, or you may see it as an opportunity for personal development.
I am a qualified and experienced psychotherapist and counsellor, working in Old Street, in central London. I work with individual adults, on an open-ended basis or for an agreed amount of time. I offer a safe, confidential and non-judgmental environment in which to explore the issues that bring you to therapy.
I am experienced in working with a range of issues, including anxiety, depression, stress, work-related problems, panic attacks, trauma, abuse, childhood sexual abuse, bereavement, loss, relationship difficulties, loneliness, illness, self-esteem issues, sexuality and sex-related problems.
It can be helpful to visit a few therapists before deciding on the 'best fit' for you, and I offer reduced rates for introductory sessions. Please feel free to contact me to find out more.
I am a registered member of both UKCP and BACP.
Training, qualifications & experience
I trained at the Minster Centre in London, from where I qualified with an MA and Advanced Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy & Counselling and a Diploma in Integrative Counselling. I am also a trained practitioner of AIT (Advanced integrative Therapy), a gentle but effective way of working with the originating causes of current difficulties and promoting recovery and a feeling of well-being.
My integrative training means that I can adapt my way of working to suit each client's unique needs, which may change as we work together. I am interested in how our experiences from the past shape our present, in terms of relationships, self-image and self-beliefs. I work empathically with my clients, with an awareness of both what has happened and what is happening in the 'here-and-now'.
I am interested in different communication styles and the different ways in which we frame our experiences. I aim to help you to discover more about your self and facilitate your growth in self-awareness and authenticity. I believe that as this happens, and you become more self-aware, you naturally begin to make better choices for today and for the future.
I have experience in working with adults of all ages, from students to post-retirement. I have worked as a counsellor at One in Four, a charity supporting survivors of sexual abuse in childhood, at the Minster Centre's low-cost therapy service and at a low-cost therapy service in south London. I have previously volunteered as a group facilitator on a psychiatric ward.
I am an accredited member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy.
As a professional psychotherapist and counsellor, I am committed to regular continuing professional development to keep me up to date with current practice. I am currently undertaking further training in Embodied Relational Therapy.
