About me

I have been a secondary school teacher for over 30 years.  I started my teaching career as a school counsellor and ended up being a classroom teacher and SENCO. Over the last few years of my teaching career, I observed the extent to which depression and anxiety became more commonplace in our young people.  I tutor privately and so often I find that the real obstacle to student success is a lack of confidence. I decided to retrain as a psychotherapist 10 years ago.  The skills I have learnt in the classroom have helped me deal with both young people and adults who struggle particularly with stress and anxiety.

My aim is to help you develop techniques that could result in profound improvements to your happiness and well-being. My aim is to have you leave each session feeling lighter and more empowered to take back control of your life.

Together we will find and develop your existing strengths and coping strategies as well as develop new ones. I will aim to make myself redundant so that you can be independent and fulfilled.

Phone or email me and I will aim to make contact within a few hours. We can then find a time to have a chat where you can tell me more about yourself and ask me any questions.  Should you decide that I am who you are looking for, I can normally see you within a week.

I tend to work mostly in Central London (close to Oxford Circus) and in the City (close to Monument) but also have access to rooms in Kensington and Bushey.

Training, qualifications & experience

My background is in secondary schools where I worked as a counsellor, teacher and SENCO.

I have a diploma in psychotherapy as well as a degree and post graduate degree in Counselling psychology.  I have been working as a therapist since 2016 and have focused largely on those who struggle with depression, anxiety and the effects of trauma.  I have also had success helping those who need to make minor tweaks in order to secure a healthier work-life balance.

I have been lucky to have featured in a few podcasts.

This one was on mental health in schools.  We could not use our names but you can work out which one is me  https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p08s9cmr

Further information

As a solution focused therapist, my aim is to help you become independent of me. I will set tasks that will allow you to practice the techniques and strategies I will teach you.  I will not ask you to commit to a specific number of sessions at a regular time.  If and when you return will be your choice entirely.  I might make suggestions, but ultimately this is your journey and all decisions are yours to make.
