Pamela Lear BSc, MBACP
Many of us suffer with anxiety, dread and fear of life's situations, feelings of low self esteem, lack of confidence and loss of hope. I hold the view that each of us have areas of strength, often unrecognised, which we can build on and which demonstrate that we are capable of making improvements to our lives, regardless of our current situation.
My role is to help my client find their areas of strength and to explore how they can maximise that quality as well as looking at how they can minimise their areas of weakness.
I work at different levels - exploring the client - asking who the are, what they are and why they are. We look at the presenting issues and current situation of the client - an objective view often alters perspective and may offer alternative solutions or strategies for coping. For some clients just talking, to somebody who is not involved in their situation, can be a release. It enables them to express their thoughts and feelings in a safe, confidential environment.
I know how difficult life can be and I want to be there to support others through their difficult times by being there to listen, not to judge and to help them either come to terms with their situation or to solutions or strategies for coping.
I discuss individual needs with the client and work accordingly, at a pace to suit the client, - seeking coping strategies and setting goals with some, focussing primarily on emotions with others.
I am trained in person centred, systemic and CBT approaches and bereavement counselling. I work integratively, drawing on my knowledge and experience to aim to achieve a therapeutic relationship in which there is mutual understanding, clarity of purpose and working to a desired outcome.
I offer a counselling service, a life coaching plan and a supervisory service to students.
Initial introductory sessions are FREE of charge.
