About me

I am an integrative trauma therapist working with clients aged 18+. Every individual's journey is unique, and as such I offer a range of therapeutic services tailored to address specific needs. Appointments can be offered online or by telephone and I offer a flexible booking system to make therapy accessible for all.

Whether you are seeking a space for personal growth, to work through relationship difficulties, to process past traumas or to address general mental health concerns, I am here to help you navigate life's challenges with resilience and insight.

I also offer clinical supervision for qualified and trainee therapists or others working in the helping professions.

My Approach

My approach to therapy is founded on building an authentic and collaborative therapeutic relationship with each client which is based on trust, empathy and compassion.

As an integrative therapist, I believe there is no one size fits all approach and understand the value in personalized care. My approach places emphasis on the unique strengths and experiences of every individual and with a client-centered approach, I will strive to empower you to explore the topics you bring to therapy in a way that works for you.

I am committed to offering a safe space where you, as the client, set the pace and direction of our work, meaning that from the outset you are in control of what you choose to talk about and how much you choose to share. My approach is relaxed and clients often remark that they are surprised by how much therapy 'just feels like a normal conversation'.

Throughout our work together I can offer tools from various modalities such as person-centred, CBT, psychodynamic therapy, mindfulness and more to suit your unique needs and preferences. Together we will build a tailored package of support that is right for you. I encourage all clients to be aware of their needs in the therapy space and to let me know if there are new ways of working that they would like to explore.

To get a further sense of how I work, check out the client testimonials below:

"When I logged in for our first session I was extremely nervous but within minutes of speaking Pamela helped me to feel at ease and I appreciated her patience as I figured out where to start. Our sessions helped me to work through abusive experiences in my past and to build the life I want today without being ruled by my past." - Female Client, 27 (Childhood Trauma)

"By the time I tried therapy, I'd tried everything from self help books to self medicating. I was skepitcal that therapy could help and expected to be judged for my past actions but Pamela wasn't judgemental at all. Talking to her was just like a normal conversation and not at all like what I'd expected therapy would be. Her compassionate approach helped me to deal with the mountain of shame I'd been carrying for years during and after my (military) service. I can't thank her enough for her kindness, patience and willingness to embrace my dark sense of humour as I waded through my 'stuff'." - Male Client, 48 (C-PTSD, Military Service)

"Therapy with Pamela has helped me to find a state of calm within myself for the first time in a very long time. She has helped me to understand how the positive and negative experiences in my life have shaped who I am today. I am becoming more confident in my own skin, happier and more positive about my future." - Non-Binary Client, 22 (Anxiety, Sexual Assault)

"Pamela listened and I could feel she actually cared. I was a 'slow burner' but she hung in there and gave me the time and space I needed, without judgement. For the first time in my life I felt safe and eventually I told her everything. It took a while, but she patiently helped me pull myself out of a really dark place and I have become proud of the man I am today. I will always be grateful for that." - Male Client, 56 (Childhood Trauma, Sexuality)

In addition to formal qualifications I am committed to ongoing professional development and continue to undertake regular additional training to support me in providing clients with the best possible therapy experience.

Experience

I have a strong foundation of experience supporting individuals who come to therapy with a wide range of issues including anxiety, stress, fertility issues, relationship difficulties, bereavement, difficult life changes and more.

Trauma Work

I specialise in supporting individuals who have been affected by trauma, particularly those affected by sexual abuse and/or rape. I understand that everyone experiences trauma differently and work to support individuals to explore the ways their trauma has impacted them, the ways they have coped and the aspects of trauma which continue to cause them distress.

Emergency Services & Military Personnel

I have experience working with those in uniformed services such as paramedics, firefighters, police and medical staff. The impact of such stressful professions and the traumatic events faced in such roles cannot be understated. I aim to offer a safe, confidential space to explore work-related concerns and the impact they are having upon an individual. I also have experience supporting military personnel, both those currently serving and veterans. Through this work, I have some insight into the challenges faced in and after service and I have supported individuals in addressing the impact of traumatic experiences and the difficulties faced reaclimatising to civilian life.

Supervision

Whether you meet with your clients online or in person, a safe space where you can reflect on your work with clients is crucial to developing your learning and maintaining professional standards of practice. As a clinical supervisor, I offer online supervision to qualified and student therapists or others working in the helping professions. For more information please get in touch.

Athletes & Public Figures

As a former performance athlete, I have an understanding of the unique vulnerabilities and pressures of high performance pathways and other similar environments. I have worked alongside elite athletes from a range of sports as well as supporting athlete wellbeing programmes through a number of sports governing bodies. I have also worked alongside a number of public figures and have some insight into the pressures of public life. Whilst confidentiality is essential for all individuals accessing therapy, I understand that there may be specific concerns for those under the media glare and I have experience working with specific privacy requirements and non-disclosure agreements.
