PAM KAY BSc.(Hons) Post.Graduate Diploma Human Givens Therapy, MHGI, MCSP
Rock Business Centre
With many years of successful experience and testimonials from clients, I offer easily understood explanations (no jargon!) Brief treatment and self-help for Anxiety which I specialise in. I offer a highly effective treatment for PTSD, Panic disorder and Phobias called 'The Rewind Technique' which is fully recommended by the Professional Standards Authority.
The therapy I offer includes depression related illness in addition to general health management and specialise in Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, unexplained pain and Fibromyalgia. Dual qualified as a fully Registered Physiotherapist I have extensive experience within the NHS in the management of all long term health conditions having developed rehabilitation programmes for Macmillan Cancer support and NHS pain management research and development. I am also a registered Mental Health First Aid Trainer.
Human Givens therapy is reputed to be one of the most up to date, effective forms of psychotherapy offering resolution for all types of emotional distress. (see the website). Many services including the NHS and Ministry of Defence are recommending it as the newer quicker type of intervention providing an improvement right from the initial session. This is because it takes into account the way our brain works and the newer knowledge of the memory and cognitive systems which inform our thoughts and responses.
Armed forces personnel are treated with the Human Givens Rewind technique for post traumatic syndrome with over 80% success, This technique can alleviate nightmares, flashbacks and severe anxiety or phobias after only one or two sessions and can be used for all past traumatic memories, psychological and physical abuse.
Many have found relief after years of Persistent pain, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Migraine, Skin conditions, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia. These types of conditions can be linked with difficult life events and anxiety at a level which we are mainly unaware of. Often by trying to fight physical symptoms, they become more troublesome as medical treatment alone does not always address the cause.
As a health professional I have been able to help a wide variety of people to overcome the effects of traumatic life events, anxiety and depression and feel inspired move on with their lives. An Integrated approach is highly valued by those who also have physical health conditions as it focuses on the whole person and their particular situation. Clients are empowered to gain control of their problems, lead their own way to improvement and can follow progress via outcome measures and a progress chart.
I am registered with the Health Professions Council with membership of the MHGI a PSA approved ethical governing framework.
I hold a current Enhanced CRB disclosure.
Therapy sessions are held in a comfortable private consulting room with easy access and private parking.

Training, qualifications & experience
Building on many years of experience of working within the NHS in rehabilitation, I qualified as a Registered Physiotherapist in 2004. Continued study led to my qualification in Counselling with a Post-Graduate Diploma in Human Givens Psychotherapy at Nottingham Trent University in 2011 (Part of MA). Having also gained a distinction for practical Human Givens counselling examinations.
Human Givens Therapy looks at our emotional needs, such as security, emotional connections, giving and receiving attention, control over our life and feeling accepted by ourselves and others. It provides solutions to how we as individuals can tap into our own innate strengths and resilience to overcome the problems that we face. It is one of the newer therapies based on many proven techniques and evidence based research. See the Human Givens website for further information http://www.hgi.org.uk/
My move towards holistic healthcare was due to finding that many people who experience psychological stress as a consequence of troublesome life events often have physical health problems with each impacting on the other. Often the link is not made or remedied by traditional health provision.
I use professional outcome measures which are evaluated for evidence and effectiveness. Continued Professional Development and supervision are adhered to, whilst regularly updating training for continued Professional Registration and membership of the Human Givens Institute.
I am also a Registered therapy provider for PTSD Resolution for traumatised ex-servicemen. My additional role is as a qualified trainer for the two day Mental Health First Aid course regularly delivered in workplace settings.
