How do you choose the right counsellor?
I am an Accredited Counsellor / Psychotherapist with BACP (The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), IACP (The Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and HGI (The Human Givens Institute). Being accredited demonstrates Quality Assurance and indicates that I am working to a strict code of ethics and I am answerable to the Professional Bodies.
I specialise in Anger Management, Bereavement, Relationships, Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Addictions, Phobias including FEAR OF FLYING, Depression, Self-Esteem and Low Confidence. I work with Individuals, Couples (including same sex couples), teenagers and families. I deal with Work - Related issues, Disability, Sexuality issues and Professional and Personal Development.
I am a Person Centred Counsellor however I recognise that each individual is unique and so I developed my expertise to meet he needs of each individual, couple and family. I trained in and qualified as a Human Givens Therapeutic Practitioner. I also trained and qualified in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy (TA) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy CBT. So I work eclectically with clients.
My Private Counselling Practice has been established since 2004 and continues to grow due to positive feedback from previous clients and other healthcare professionals. Appointments are available by day, evening and weekend.

I began my counselling career as a Bereavement Counsellor. I worked in a Bereavement Agency in Belfast for 10 years as counsellor, supervisor and facilitator of Suicide Support Groups. I specialised in counselling people who had been bereaved traumatically by e.g. road traffic accidents, suicide and murder. This unique experience, working with bereavement throughout the "Troubles", has proved to be invaluable.
After completing a Diploma in Counselling I went on to do a Foundation Year in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy and a Certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and I achieved a Diploma and Post Graduate Diploma in Human Givens Counselling.
I trained as a Social Worker and was employed with The Southern Health and Social Care Trust working with Older People, Physical and Sensory Disability and Mental Health. I trained in Critical Incident Debriefing and was a member of the Critical Incident Team within the Trust.
I currently work full time as a counsellor / Psychotherapist in my private Practice. I work with Individuals, Couples and families.

My Counselling practice is strictly confidential. My office is on the outskirts of Newry. Sessions last 50 minutes. You will be made to feel comfortable and will not be judged. There is a ramp for wheel chair users and facilities for people with disabilities. There is a waiting room for relatives or friends to relax.
