Padraic Devlin, MBACP(Reg)
You are very welcome to my page. My name is Padraic, and I have been drawn to this vocation due to a variety of personal life experiences. There’s a saying that counsellors are "wounded healers", and for me the word healing is really important as I believe we can all heal from difficult experiences.
I have my own private practice (Calmer Shores Counselling) and work with children (aged 8+), young people and adults from all walks of life. I am also employed working in Secondary Schools counselling young people aged 11-18 presenting with a range of difficulties such as anger, bullying, bereavement, relationship issues and self esteem etc. I work a lot with teenagers and young people either privately or in schools, and I’m very much on a level. I also work privately with Primary School children within the school environment or one to one basis, delivering a 4 week programme I have developed specifically for the younger age group. The programme looks at different emotions and ways to help beat stress or anxiety. The programme is creative, fun, but most importantly, the child learns new ways to overcome difficulties.
We are all unique individuals, so whether you are 8 or 81, male or female, from the country or from the town, your counselling experience will be unique to you. You are always central in everything we do. I believe the most important thing is the therapeutic relationship, (how you and I get along), which is key to successful therapy. It's important to share with you that I'm not going to be sitting upon high, telling you what I think you should do. But, I have 100% belief and faith that you, in the right space with me, will find the answers and peace of mind you've been searching for.
I work in Mid Ulster counselling on a one to one basis and I also provide Online Counselling working with clients across the world.
If you are experiencing difficulties, making that first call or sending that first text can feel scary. Before making contact you will have lots of questions and fears, “am I doing the right thing”, “will I connect with this counsellor”, “am I ready”. All of these questions and fears are totally normal, and I never underestimate the courage it takes to reach out. The best way to find out is to drop me an email or call, as I think you’ll know in the first five minutes of the phone call if we are going to have that therapeutic “click”.
If you're able to make that first step by contacting me, I will do all I can, together with you, to make this counselling experience as natural and as positive for you as possible. I always say that we are on a journey and this can be an amazing one. If you feel now is the time to begin this journey, I'm here and ready to walk the path alongside you.
