I am a very experienced Psychotherapist who has worked within the field of Child and Adolescent Mental Health for over 25 years. I have worked in various clinic and hospital settings providing therapy to children of all ages from infants through to young people up to 25 years of age.

Below are common areas of difficulty for which I offer therapeutic help and support:

  • low self-esteem and lack of self-confidence
  • friendship and relationship problems
  • underachievement at school or college
  • aggressive outbursts and tantrums
  • attachment problems
  • depression
  • anxiety
  • eating difficulties
  • self-harm
  • trauma
  • experiences of abuse

Training, qualifications & experience

I trained at the Society of Analytical Psychology in London and am an accredited member of the Association of Child Psychotherapists (ACP). The ACP is the main professional body for psychoanalytic psychotherapists working with children and adolescents in the UK and is registered with the Professional Standards Authority.

In addition to my clinical practice I have taught on many postgraduate academic courses and therapy trainings.I have been involved for many years with the training of Child and Adolescent Psychotherapists.

In relation to the fees that I charge I endeavour to take the individual financial circumstances of families into account. I have some scope for offering reduced fees where possible.

The usual fee for consultations and sessions is £60.

When I work

I have a full time private practice from Mondays through to Fridays.

Further information

The first step in seeking help would be to contact me so we could discuss whether it might be helpful for you to have an initial consultation. The consultation would be an opportunity to get a detailed picture of the concerns and to decide whether further therapeutic help would be appropriate. Different therapeutic options are possible that are both brief and longer term. The key to successful help is to carefully work out what is needed so that emotional difficulties can truly be overcome.

The range of options for therapeutic help and support include:

  • Consultations
  • Assessments
  • Parent work
  • Individual psychotherapy
  • parent-child psychotherapy
  • parent-infant psychotherapy

For detailed information you might find it helpful to look at my website. It is designed to help parents, children and young people reflect on the difficulties that are concerning them and to provide information about child psychotherapy and how it can help. The name of the website is New Beginnings and the website address is as above. The website can also be accessed by clicking on the image below.
