About me

I am a counsellor/therapist, a graduate psychologist, a supervisor and a counselling tutor. I work with young people, adults, couples and families.

I abide by the ethical framework of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) and by the code of ethics of BPS (British Psychological Society), which means that I am committed to continual professional development and regular supervision to ensure I can offer excellence in my practice. I am a Registered  Member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (MBACP), a graduate member of the British Psychological Society (GMBPsS).

My approach integrates Psychodynamic theory and Systemic therapy, including Narrative therapy, when working with relationship problems (couple, family, friends, at work, etc.). I also practice eclecticism when working with a wide range of issues, incorporating principles from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Person-centred. To me, counselling and therapy mainly involve actively listening, understanding and accepting clients in order to enhance their well-being and to help them make effective changes in their lives.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a BSc (Hons) in Philosophy and Educational Science from the University of Salamanca (Spain) and a BSc (Hons) in Psychology from ARU (Cambridge, UK).

I have a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling from Hills Road Sixth Form College (Cambridge, UK). I have a MA in Relationship Therapy (Relate Institute, validated by University of Hull). I have a post-graduate Diploma in Integrative Supervision of Individuals and Groups (The Grove, London).

I am an ICO registered practitioner. I am a member of ACTO (level 1), having attended further training with the Online Therapy Institute Europe (Certified Cyber Therapist, 50 h certificate) and with Counselling Tutor (Certificate on online and telephone counselling, 80 h) .

I have worked in mainstream and specialist schools, supporting, teaching and tutoring children and young people. I have been involved with local charities and organisations where I worked as a counsellor/psychotherapist and a therapeutic mentor. I have, in the past, been employed by Cambridgeshire County Council as part of a team dedicated to the inclusion of children with physical, behavioural and learning difficulties in the community.

Currently I am teaching counselling courses in the Adult Education department at a Sixth Form College in Cambridge and involved in delivering training at Relate Cambridge.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
