About me

Welcome to my page.

About Me
My name is Dr Oby. I am a medical doctor, consultant counselling Psychologist, counselling supervisor and university lecturer. I have worked in both NHS and my private practice for over eighteen years with experience in complex mental health case and issues relating to sexual and reproductive health. I also have experience in relationship counselling where I have helped many couples resolve their relationship problems.

My Counselling Model
Recognizing that everyone is uniquely different and our problems are often peculiar to our situation and circumstance, I endeavour to tailor my counselling/therapy to your needs. This means that you do not need to deal with your challenges like anyone else.

Generally, I work as an integrative practitioner and so I blend CBT, Psychodynamic and Person Centred approaches in my work with my clients. I utilize CBT skills to help you find solutions to specific problems that you may have. There are also occasions where I may draw from the Psychodynamic skills to help you identify patterns in your life that have hindered your progress. I utilize the Person Centred skills to help you reinforce your sense of self and personal confidence

My counselling sessions

In each session, you are free to work at your own pace and to bring whatever is pressing to you. I aim to provide you with the professional guidance and support as you explore your life situations and challenges.

We will have a review session every six weeks to enable us to look at the progress you have made and the possible areas you may wish to work on. It will also allow us to discuss possibilities of ending the sessions if that is appropriate.

Fees are paid on or before the counselling session.

Member organisations

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
