About us
Hello, I'm Dr Jen Guthrie, HCPC Registered Clinical Psychologist and Cognitive Analytic Therapy Practitioner. I work for North Tyne Psychology Ltd. I primarily offer Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) which aims to understand problematic repeating patterns in life and relationships. I can integrate other models and tailor therapy to meet your individual needs by drawing upon my training in Structured Clinical Management (SCM), Family Therapy, and Trauma Informed Stabilisation Treatment.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have 14 years experience working as a Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Supervisor within the NHS. I work with adults experiencing a range of mental health difficulties such as trauma, anxiety, low mood, relational problems, and emotion regulation difficulties. In addition, I work with adults with learning disabilities, Autism and ADHD, and with parents of children with special educational needs and disabilities. I have a special interest in parenting and understanding neurodiversity, as well as intergenerational trauma.

- Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (2011)
- Post Graduate Diploma in Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) Practitioner training (2023)
- Family Therapy and Systemic Practice (2016) and Structured Clinical Management (SCM) (2015)
- BSc (Hons.) Psychology (2004). The University of Edinburgh.

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.

I offer a free 20-minute telephone consultation, please get in touch (via telephone/email) to find out more. North Tyne Psychology is based in Monkseaton, where I hold face to face sessions where we can talk in a safe, peaceful setting. I am 2 minutes walk from a metro station and there is free parking available outside. Sessions last 50 minutes and are usually held once a week.
