About us

Hello, I'm Dr Jen Guthrie, HCPC Registered Clinical Psychologist and Cognitive Analytic Therapy Practitioner. I work for North Tyne Psychology Ltd. I primarily offer Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) which aims to understand problematic repeating patterns in life and relationships. I can integrate other models and tailor therapy to meet your individual needs by drawing upon my training in Structured Clinical Management (SCM), Family Therapy, and Trauma Informed Stabilisation Treatment.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have 14 years experience working as a Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Supervisor within the NHS. I work with adults experiencing a range of mental health difficulties such as trauma, anxiety, low mood, relational problems, and emotion regulation difficulties. In addition, I work with adults with learning disabilities, Autism and ADHD, and with parents of children with special educational needs and disabilities. I have a special interest in parenting and understanding neurodiversity, as well as intergenerational trauma.

Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (2011)
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) Practitioner training (2023)
  • Family Therapy and Systemic Practice (2016) and Structured Clinical Management (SCM) (2015)
  • BSc (Hons.) Psychology (2004). The University of Edinburgh.
