About us

North East Counselling Services have been providing counselling in Gateshead since July 2006. During that time we've provided counselling to over 10,000 people.

93% of our clients have told us that counselling has helped them and 98% would recommend us to family and friends.

We provide counselling services to children and young people aged 4-18 either in our centres or at school.

For adults we provide individual and couples counselling.

We always carry out an assessment to ensure counselling is right for you right now and we will find you the best counsellor from our team of over 50 for your circumstances.

We charge £40/session  counselling.  All counselling sessions last 50 minutes.

We would normally be able to offer you a consultation appointment within a week of registration.  You can register online by clicking this link https://counsel360.necounselling.org.uk/referral/create?_ga=2.66443950.1258692790.1599667191-672791839.1588594789

Training, qualifications & experience

North East Counselling Services have over 50 counsellors registered with us covering a wide range of counselling modalities.

Most of our counsellors start as placement counsellors and we then work with them to develop their skills until they have qualified.  Once qualified they counsel on behalf of North East Counselling Services and we ensure the high quality of their service by providing in-house supervision.

All of our counsellors are members of professional counselling bodies.

Member organisations *

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

We have verified that at least one professional at this organisation is registered with the relevant professional body.

You can contact the counsellor to discuss the options available.
