About me

I am an experienced, qualified therapist and counsellor and registered member of the BACP. I work with individual adults and adolescents offering a supportive, non judgmental space to reflect on your experiences, explore thoughts, feelings and any difficulties that you may be facing. My approach is grounded in Gestalt and Mindfulness which are compassionate, practical, holistic approaches encouraging greater awareness, self care and personal growth. I work relationally which means I bring myself into the therapeutic work sharing my responses, thoughts and feelings with you. In the work we pay attention to psychological and physical experiences and how they are connected, developing greater awareness to encourage understanding. I am passionate about working in a ‘here and now’ way to support people to expand their awareness and develop greater self care. I am experienced in working with people from a wide range of faiths, ethic backgrounds and from the LGBT community.

My undergraduate and postgraduate education is in anthropology and international development. I went onto work in both statutory and voluntary sector mental health services for young people and adults in East London, where I ran a therapeutic service for young people. I am now in private practice in Hackney.

My guiding principles are:

Common Issues brought to therapy:

Childhood issues

Loss / Bereavement

Sexuality/ identity

Feeling Stuck / Life change/ personal development

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
