As an experienced counsellor and Gestalt psychotherapist, I offer a warm, supportive and safe space in which we can explore your concerns and work towards understanding and lasting change.
My approach is a holistic one, valuing the importance of both the mind and body. Working in relationship, new possibilities emerge that can lead to healing and change. Though we are all born with the ability to lead satisfying lives, we can sometimes lose sight of what is important and how we feel. My passion is to work creatively with my clients to develop their awareness and potential. Exploring patterns that may be repeated but which are no longer useful, can lead to finding new ways of being that may be more satisfying in the present.
I work with individuals offering both short-term and open-ended therapy depending on what you would like to get out of our work together.
If you would like to enquire further, I would welcome either an email or phone call and I will endeavour to respond within 12 hours.
During our first session we will explore what has brought you to therapy and it will give you an opportunity to meet me; to see if what I offer could be of use for you; and if you feel this fits with that you would like to get out of therapy. During future sessions through dialogue things usually become clearer. I offer you a confidential space to work at your pace to understand what is troubling you and what you need.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a Masters in Gestalt Psychotherapy and a Diploma in Gestalt Psychotherapeutic Counselling. I have practised for several years at a private counselling agency before commencing my own private practice. I have also volunteered at Community Housing Therapy - a therapeutic community supporting people with severe and enduring mental health conditions such as personality disorders, mood disorders and psychosis.
Initially I trained as a Medical Speech and Language Therapist working for many years with adults in various NHS settings. My focus has been on helping clients adjust to the impact of illness on their way of being; and in facing life-limiting conditions. This led me to further my training as a Gestalt Psychotherapist which I have completed through the Metanoia Institute where I continue to support the faculty in student training.
