About me

As an qualified and experienced psychotherapist and counsellor, I offer a professional, supportive and safe environment in which we can explore whats on your mind. Together we can work towards understanding, building resilience, empowerment and finding choicefulness in life.

You may have had difficult or painful life experiences, or be struggling with relational patterns that are making you unhappy.  You may be feeling overwhelmed, anxious, sad or depressed and not know why.  You may be experiencing life events that feel unbearable. We all pass through moments in our lives where we feel depleted or find ourselves struggling to overcome difficulties. If any of this resonates with you please do get in touch.

My practice is primarily based on Gestalt therapy but also informed by other approaches. This means that I work from a fully holistic and integrated stance taking account of the whole person - body, mind and soul. I work by exploring your thoughts, feelings, and behaviour helping you gain clarity around your experience.

Many people have concerns about who they are in the world, where they fit and how they are received. These questions become more pressing when we face difficult circumstances. We can lose touch with what we really think and feel and what is important uniquely to each of us. We can become stuck in patterns that get in the way, changing how we relate to ourselves and to others. This can stop us living satisfying lives.

Please look at my website to get more information about me and my practice.

WHAT TO DO NEXT:

I work one to one with adults on an open-ended basis or for an agreed time period, with the aim of enabling you to enhance your life and to live it more fully.

During our first session we will explore what has brought you to therapy and it will give you an opportunity to meet me; to see if what I offer could be of use for you; and if you feel this fits with that you would like to get out of therapy. During future sessions things usually become clearer. I offer you a confidential space to work at your pace to understand what is troubling you and what you need.

If you would like to enquire further, I would welcome either an email or phone call and I will endeavour to respond within 12 hours.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a Masters in Gestalt Psychotherapy and a post-graduate diploma in Gestalt Psychotherapeutic Counselling . I trained at the Metanoia Institute, a leading centre for psychotherapy training in the UK.

I am a registered psychotherapist with the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP); and am also a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP).

Although I now only work in private practice, I worked for several years at a private counselling agency and also volunteered at Community Housing and Therapy. This is a therapeutic community supporting people who live with severe and enduring mental health conditions.

Initially I trained as a Medical Speech and Language Therapist and have worked for many years with adults in various NHS settings and private hospitals. My focus has been on helping clients adjust to the impact of illness on their way of being; mental health conditions and in facing life-limiting conditions.

I am committed to ongoing personal and professional development.
