About me

I offer caring and supportive counselling and psychotherapy services in Shepherds Bush, London W12 and via Zoom.

I believe that there is real potential for change held in the relationship between psychotherapist and client. I use an integrative model of working and embrace psychodynamic, humanistic and transpersonal approaches. This enables me to combine more traditional theory with other techniques and allows a client's individuality to be expressed in the therapy process.

Each client is unique and I work in an authentic way to allow your true nature to come through.  It is a privilege to work with clients and to offer a space for you to totally be yourself. You will be listened to and supported in a process to enable you to start living life in a way that has meaning to you.

I trained as a Transpersonal psychotherapist at CCPE, The Centre for Counselling in Psychotherapy Education in Maida Vale. I work in a confidential, non judgemental and sensitive way.

In Transpersonal psychotherapy, personal breakdowns are often seen as having a purpose in order to allow us to unfold and change. I focus on personal growth encompassing mind, body and spirit. When we are faced with a crisis, this can mean reassessing our motivations, our sense of purpose and meaning in life. I often work with dreams and use active imagination to gain a better understanding of what might be causing a block and to gain more clarity and self-awareness.

I seek to build and expand on a clients core qualities and strengths and to balance the person’s energies and lifestyle. I work with you towards learning how your unique history and character are creating symptoms which you are seeking to understand in order to unfold and find a new way of being. I believe that we are all trying to become our whole selves and that there may be aspects of ourselves that need to be understood in order for us to reach our fullest potential.

I normally meet a prospective client for an initial session and at this first appointment we can discuss your individual needs and gain a sense of whether we might be able to work together. After this, we will arrange to meet once a week for 50 minutes at an agreed time to look at your particular issues. After six weeks we can review these sessions to find out whether the therapy is benefitting you and whether you wish to continue.

I see both individual clients and couples for both short term and open-ended therapeutic work and we move at your own pace. There is no right or wrong length of time for therapy and to build up a sense of trust.

Training, qualifications & experience

I completed a one year Introduction to Counselling and Psychotherapy Foundation course at the WPF, The Westminster Pastoral Foundation in (2007).

Following this, I trained as a psychotherapist at the Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy Education in Maida Vale, completing a four year post-graduate diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy (2009-2012). The training is accredited by the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) and the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). I am a registered and accredited UKCP psychotherapist and a member of the BACP.

My initial work was with clients through the Kensington and Chelsea Mental Health Befriending Scheme. At the end of this time, I was awarded for my work over this period in offering ‘Reflective practice and drive to make a difference’.

Prior to beginning my private practice, I worked as a trainee counsellor/psychotherapist for three years with both short term and long term clients at FreshStart Psychotherapy. This service is based in W2 and offers low cost counselling to anyone living in Greater London.

I have been on clinical placement at the Cassel Hospital in Richmond, Surrey. The Cassel provides specialist assessment and treatment services for those with severe and complex personality disorders.

In terms of my career prior to becoming a psychotherapist, I have worked in the media industry for over twenty years.  This experience has meant I have an understanding of the pressures of working in a fast paced and stressful environment.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
