About me

I offer one-to-one counselling, psychotherapy and coaching to help you deal with personal issues, whatever they are and however they’re affecting you. We all have difficult times in our lives and I offer you a safe and confidential environment in which you can share and explore your concerns without being judged. My aim is to help you understand why you’re feeling the way you do and what you can do to feel better. We will also look at ways in which you might change how you behave and how you can respond to people and events so that you can live a fuller and happier life.

My main approach to counselling is integrative, built on a person-centred foundation and supplemented by the more cognitive approaches of NLP and CBT. This enables me to work effectively with traumatised clients on a short-term basis as well as doing longer term work to deal with more deeply ingrained issues from earlier in life. The breadth of my training enables me to build an approach for each client tailored according to their individual needs and to prioritise work on the issues most important to them at the time.

I also offer coaching to help you identify and focus on your goals and objectives in life and how you can achieve them. If you have specific goals in mind, we’ll look directly at how best to achieve them.  If you’re looking for a new direction in life, we’ll work together first to help you set long, and shorter-term goals that reflect your deep values and provide a clear focus for your efforts.

I hold a PG certificate in supervision and offer supervision to qualified practitioners  and trainees to suit your needs. I usually have places available at  for new supervisees

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
