About me

Nicole Reed – Qualified counsellor, a Member of BACP, DIP. Therapeutic Counselling and an Accredited member of the National Counselling Society

Finding the right counsellor for you can feel like a big task, you need to feel safe to share your feelings, and it’s important that you feel comfortable with the right person. There are lots of counsellors out there, so thank you for taking the time to read my information.

Putting your feelings into words can sometimes sound easier than it is, so having a counsellor who gives you space where those feelings can be shared safely is extremely important in understanding where those feelings stem from. It could be that you have held onto those feelings for years, from childhood, or something could have triggered them more recently in your life, helping you to look at where and how those feelings impact you is where I come in.

I am a qualified counsellor and a member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP), so I adhere to their Ethical Framework.  I am also an Accredited member of the NCS, the Society deems me to be safe, competent and ethical to practise the vocation of counselling
and is thus recorded on the Society Register with Accredited Membership and the
designation MNCS (Accred).

I work as a person-centred counsellor but can draw upon other theoretical approaches if our sessions require it, we are all individual, so our sessions will be tailored to your needs.

I offer both long and short-term counselling.  I have a counselling room in the Maidstone Community Support Centre where I can offer face-to-face counselling, telephone counselling or sessions via Zoom, the choice is yours.

My current fees are £45 per 50 min session (I do have some availability for student counsellors at a reduced rate).

Whilst undergoing my training I worked at a Hospice, offering counselling to bereaved clients and those facing a terminal illness diagnosis, and also with a Domestic Abuse charity, counselling survivors of Domestic Abuse. During these placements, I received in-house training on working with Grief and Domestic Abuse. Prior to my counselling training, I also volunteered with a charity called Pregnancy Sickness Support (PSS), a UK Charity Supporting women with Morning Sickness and Hyperemesis Gravidarum.

I currently offer a free 30 min telephone call so that we can talk through what your needs are, and to find out if we can work together, please use my contact details to make this initial booking.

The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
