About me
My role as a counsellor is to support you and alleviate the weight of your problem.
Asking for help is a sign of strength. It means you are ready and able to work through your difficulties. It is an acceptance that you cannot manage your problem by yourself. It is the first step to reclaiming your happiness, confidence and inner peace. I believe an empathetic approach to therapy provides a safe environment where problems can be shared without the fear of judgement.
Training, qualifications & experience
As a qualified integrative counsellor, I use several different types of therapy in my work e.g. person-centred and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). I have nine years of experience working with people with a variety of problems, including pornography addiction, depression, anxiety, childhood sexual abuse, and bereavement. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, a professional body that sets standards for therapeutic practice.
Bereavement
I am well versed in the feelings, physical sensations and behaviours associated with bereavement. I provide support and guidance to help navigate normal and complicated grief reactions. I can help with the adjustment of living without the deceased.
Addiction (pornography)
I am trained in supporting those who struggle with a compulsive pornography addiction. I provide clarity of the nature of porn addiction and the powerful control it can have on someone's life. I share strategies to implement change, prevent relapse and help alleviate the associated guilt and shame.
Adult Survivors of childhood sexual abuse
I am experienced working with adult Survivors of childhood sexual abuse. I can help introduce healthy coping strategies to manage anxiety, fears and other trauma induced problems. I am well trained to listen with empathy and compassion to the difficulties Survivors of child abuse face.
Anxiety and Depression
I am confident working with those with anxiety and depression and recognise the debilitating nature of these conditions. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is generally regarded as the primary talking therapy to help treat the symptoms of anxiety and depression.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information
There is no fee for our initial meeting as we will use it to talk about what led you to seek counselling. This first discussion will also give you the opportunity to decide if you feel you could work with me and allow me to gauge whether my experience and skills will meet your needs. This contact will last up to 30 minutes whereas all future sessions will normally be 50 minutes.
If your experience is beyond my expertise I will tell you in the introductory session; your welfare is important to me and finding the right counsellor with the right skills is essential.
