About me

I am an experienced UKCP-accredited body-oriented relational psychotherapist with a private practice in North London. I offer empathetic constructive support for relationship, work and identity issues. I do both short-term work, helping clients to deal with particular immediate issues, and long-term therapy, assisting clients on a journey of self-discovery, helping them towards understanding and shifting recurring behaviours which make life difficult for them, helping them towards optimal satisfaction in their relationships and optimal efficiency in work and artistic pursuits.

Social anxiety and isolation afflict an increasing number of people in our culture. The ongoing honest and direct communication and contactfulness of relational body psychotherapy are well-suited to addressing and alleviating these problems.

Training, qualifications & experience

PhD (University of London 2001), Certificate and Diploma (1991) from the Chiron Centre for Body Psychotherapy. Ongoing continued professional development including training in working with trauma and sexuality and attachment theory.

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Further information

Psychotherapy is about emotional resonance. Empathy and rapport are essential preconditions for successful therapy.

I have many years of experience working with a wide variety of people, helping them to make sense of their lives and to find greater joy and satisfaction in their relationships and their work.

Therapy sessions always begin with talking - exploring your inner world in a safe and supportive setting. But being a relational body psychotherapist, I will often enquire into your feelings of well-being or not-so-well-being in your body. Therapy can include (when appropriate and with your agreement and understanding) expressive exercises and "hands-on" work such as vegetotherapy and biodynamic massage.

There are no magic cures. No therapist can "take away" your suffering. We will work together to facilitate and deepen your experience of life and to reduce the obstacles to straightforward communication, satisfying relationships and joyful living.

Currently most of my work is online due to the pandemic. Hopefully this will change soon.
