Hi I'm Nicola.
My approach as a therapist includes: Person-Centred Counselling, CBT, Psychotherapy, Trauma-Informed Therapy and Pre-Trial Therapy. I am very passionate about my work; previously volunteering as a therapist for a charitable organisation for 6 years. I have over 8 years of experience helping people with complex issues. My specialism is in the Sexual Violence Sector and I have extensive experience of supporting those who have experienced Trauma. I support both males and females over the age of 13 years. I currently work with private clients and I am employed by charitable organisations.
I believe that anyone of us could experience poor mental health for any number of reasons. Are you struggling? Is it having a negative impact on your life e.g. relationships, work, finances or quality of life? Are you struggling to manage your life; are you scared, lonely or unhappy? Do you need someone to listen, not judge, help you explore your feelings and to support you whilst understanding your own needs. Do you want to identify the problems in your life, make positive changes, learn healthy coping strategies and focus on achieving your goals? Have you experienced loss, trauma, or abuse? Some of the impacts I have supported people to manage or change include: nightmares, anxiety, sexuality, HIV, depression, phobias, flashbacks, unhealthy eating habits, anger, self-harm.....
I work in an integrative yet person Centred way, meaning that I work in a way which helps you most, by using different modalities of therapy.
The approaches I might use to support you include: Humanistic (Person-centred Counselling) - identify your problems and engage with your emotions. CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) - reconnect with the present, learn coping strategies, challenge your negative thoughts and beliefs which can have a positive impact on your behaviour and how you feel. Solution Focused Therapy - focus on solving problems and achieving your goals. Stabilization Work - to increase your resilience and emotional well-being. Psycho-Education - understand and gain knowledge of your symptoms e.g. anxiety. Mindfulness - engage with the present.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
