About me
Hello,
I am Counselling Psychologist registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) plus I am a Chartered member of the British Psychological Society.
I currently work as a Lead Psychologist for a community HIV specialist service and an ME/CFS specialist service. I facilitate weekly mindfulness/visualisation sessions for staff and, in addition, facilitate staff reflective practice sessions. I run a small private online practice offering personal therapy in the evenings and Saturday mornings via Skype or Microsoft Teams.
My areas of interest include life span development, attachment & loss, intergenerational coping strategies and psychological trauma. I am interested in social stigmas and the social construction of our lives, including culture, religion, and gender roles in society.
I work relationally with an awareness of myself, and my own being when with clients and believe in a compassionate self, mindfulness and being in the moment.
Specialities: Bereavement counselling, substance use, motivational interviewing, attachment disorders, depression/anxiety, FND, staff counselling & harassment work, perinatal mental health and adjustment problems experienced by new parents.
I am an EMDR Therapist plus have training in trauma focused CBT and Expert Witness training for the courts. I have volunteered for Medical Justice, writing reports on individuals detained by the home office.

Member organisations
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.

I operate a sliding scale for fees depending on your personal circumstances.
Individual therapy: from £110 per fifty minutes. EMDR £120 per fifty minutes. However open to discussion
Supervision: from £80 per fifty minutes.
Concessionary places may be available for students and single parents, please do enquire.

I am an EMDR Therapist and have completed a two day training in Laurel Parnell's Attachment Focused EMDR.
Individual supervision is available to both trainee and qualified therapists and other professionals.
Ethics: I am a Chartered Counselling Psychologist which means that I abide by the Professional Code of Conduct of the British Psychological Society (BPS) plus regulations as set out by HCPC. Therefore you have every right to expect that I will conduct myself professionally, responsibly and according to the ethical laws, regulations and codes of conduct, of which I am a full professional member. I am fully insured as a Counselling Psychologist with Chartered status.
I am registered with Axa PPP Insurance Ltd as an eligible provider of psychological/counselling therapy.
