About me
Hey, my name is Nicola (call me Nic though or I will think your shouting :). Thank you for taking the time to view my profile. Looking for a counsellor can be quite daunting and there are many helpful angels out there so why me? Well like you have been a client myself, I know the importance of choosing a counsellor that is right for you, I aim to be the counsellor that I have, on several occasions needed for myself. I believe these experiences have helped me, not just to cope at the time, but also what it feels like to be a client. I have experience working with both young people and adults, I am warm, friendly and provide a safe space for my clients to feel comfortable. I work Pluralistically, which means I do not follow just one way of working, I can draw on many different theories to help tailor make your therapy that is right for you. You are the expert in the room, nobody knows you better than yourself, I just happen to have the skills so that together we find a way that suits you best.
I am available to work online via Teams or over the telephone. Contact me for a free 20 minute consultation, there is no obligation just time for any questions you may have and to see if I am the best fit for you.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a degree in BA (Hons) Counselling and Therapeutic Practice level 6.
I am always upskilling, doing extra training as part of my personal development to offer you the best support. If I am unsure of anything I will be honest, however, I will make it my business to research and inform myself the best way possible.
I have a full enhanced DBS which is ongoing, I attend monthly supervision which provides a 3rd eye over my work, ensuring that you are always at the forefront of the work we complete together. I am also a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). This gives you the added reassurance that I adhere to the ethical framework set, giving you the most professional standards.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
