About me

Hi, I’m Nicola, a qualified person-centred counsellor offering online and telephone counselling for adults across the UK.

Starting counselling can feel like a big step, especially if you are unsure what to expect. You might be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or have a sense that something isn’t quite right, it is perfectly natural to feel that way. You don’t need to have the right words or a clear idea of what you want to talk about, we can begin wherever you are.

Compassion and respect guide my approach to our work together, alongside a belief in your capacity to find your own way through. Rather than offering advice or quick solutions, I offer a space where you can reflect on your thoughts and feelings in a way that feels comfortable for you.

Clients often tell me they appreciate the ease and understanding they feel in our sessions, that they don’t need to put on a brave face or explain everything straight away. I have supported individuals through their personal challenges such as anxiety, loss, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, and feelings of being stuck or disconnected. I also have a particular interest in working with those living with long-term or chronic health conditions. Illness can affect more than just the body, it can touch identity, confidence, relationships, and how we experience the world. There is space for all of that in our work together.

Before training as a counsellor, I spent over 25 years working in well-being and massage therapy. That time gave me a deep sense of how closely our physical and emotional lives are connected which partly led me to counselling. This understanding continues to shape the way I work with care, curiosity, and an awareness of everything you bring to the sessions.

If you’re wondering whether counselling might be helpful, feel free to get in touch by email, text or book your introductory call. I offer an initial 20 minute conversation on the phone or online where we can discuss your therapy needs, and how we may work together.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
