Hello and welcome to my profile.
There may be many reasons why you find yourself seeking counselling, perhaps you are experiencing distress or pain in your life, maybe you are feeling dissatisfied with life or finding you have lost your sense of purpose or direction. Whatever your reasons, counselling can offer you different choices.
Now you are here, there are so many different counsellors to choose from it is possible you feel slightly overwhelmed by the choice.
What experience do I have?
Let me tell you a bit about who I am and what I can offer you. I have experience of working with a wide variety of clients and their issues, in a number of settings. As well as working in private practice I have worked as a counsellor in a Women’s Centre in Wakefield and have experience as a school based counsellor working with children aged 5 – 17. I have worked with many issues including; relationship difficulties, anxiety, depression, childhood abuse and trauma, family breakdown, eating disorders, compulsive behaviour, self-esteem, suicide, self-harm, domestic abuse and bereavement.
How do I work?
My own values of honesty, respect and optimism lie at the heart of my counselling style. Drawing on a range of approaches I am able to offer you counselling that fits your needs, after all, we are all unique and individual with our own experiences of life, so why should one approach fit everyone? I offer you a counselling relationship that is sincere, accepting and safe, a place from where you can explore aspects of your life and feelings that are troubling you.
Feeling heard, understood and not judged can help you to explore your feelings more fully and more openly and allow you the opportunity to look at areas of your life, your relationships and yourself that you may not have been able to consider or to face before. It is from here that changes can take place and new choices can be considered.
Throughout your counselling journey I will accompany and support you, working with you, at your depth and your pace to explore the issues and feelings that bring you to counselling, helping you to discover your own answers and bring about the changes you want to make. Individual counselling, based on your needs.
It is really important that you feel comfortable with me before committing to counselling so I offer an initial no obligation session for us to meet, to talk about what has brought you to counselling and for you to see whether I am the right person for you.
To find out more or to make an initial appointment for us to meet please feel free to call or text me on 07940729262 or drop me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org
Where and when do I work?
I am able to see you in comfortable, private rooms in either Leeds city centre or in the centre of Wakefield and can offer daytime and evening appointments.
What have my clients said?
"I arrived in a really bad state and found the shelter I needed to work out where I was going, it was like a safe haven every week, thank you...."

Training, qualifications & experience
After being made redundant from a busy corporate environment, where I had worked for 13 years I decided to take a complete change in direction and train to be a counsellor. I had experienced counselling myself, following a traumatic event in my life, and had found it invaluable in helping me to move forward. I was also volunteering as a Samaritan and had often considered re-training but it had never been the right time. Redundancy provided allowed me to the opportunity to do what I felt passionate about.
I trained at York St.Johns University and was awarded a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling & Psychotherapy (Professional Practice) with distinction.
