About me

Welcome. I am a professionally qualified, registered counsellor & supervisor with over 19 years practice experience working with a whole range of issues.  I currently work as a Person Centred Counsellor within the NHS and run a small private practice from home.

I offer a safe, calm, authentic space in which your therapeutic needs can be explored and worked with together at your own pace.

What can I expect?
Once you have decided to make contact with me by either telephone, text or email, I will get back to you via your preferred method of contact.  I will return contact within a 24 hour period, Monday to Friday. Please check your spam folder if email used.

What then?
We can have an informal, confidential chat via telephone if you would like (this is of no cost) to see how best to proceed in order to meet your needs.  If appropriate, we can then arrange an initial meeting together either in person, online or via telephone consultation.

What will happen at my first appointment with you?
I will meet with you either at my home where I have a dedicated space specifically for counselling sessions to take place, or I will contact you at the appointed time via your preferred platform. We will have up to an hour together to explore your needs and to get a sense of each other.

What next?
During the session we can talk about how best to proceed and book the next session if appropriate.

How many sessions will I need?
This will vary depending upon the work required and adapted accordingly to your requirements.  Regular review of our work together will take place to ensure the appropriate amount of sessions are used and is effective.

Feel free to arrange an initial, no obligation meeting in which we can get a sense of each other with a view to working together & moving closer to your therapeutic aims.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
