Nick Peters MA (Psyc), MA (Hons), Adv Dip (Psyc) PGCE. MBACP.
I am a fully qualified and experienced 50 year old clinical psychotherapist.
Prior to beginning my psychotherapy training, I trained and qualified as a counsellor; hence, whilst I am first and foremost a psychotherapist, I also offer counselling - I am a registered member of the BACP.
Moreover, I work as a psychotherapist and counsellor working in both private practice and the public sector.
I am passionate about what I do and profoundly believe that everyone has the opportunity to heal and grow when the therapist has the expertise to attune properly to the client. Moreover, I feel that we all experience episodes in our lives when we would benefit from professional psychological help.
I have over 20 years experience of working with adults, adolescents and children in an educational and developmental capacity in a wide-range of settings including: schools, hospitals, community centres, clubs and NHS affiliated environments. I worked in the Priory Hospital, Roehampton, as a sessional therapist, and for three years I worked as part of a team of therapists at Balham Community Centre for Counselling which works in collaboration with a number of GP surgeries in Wandsworth, South London. As well as working as a therapist I was responsible for delivering mental health assessments to NHS patients who pass d through the organisation.
Some of the most common issues I work with are:
addiction, anxiety, anger, bereavement, depression, loss, low self esteem, OCD, redundancy, relationship issues, self harm, stress, transitional stages, trauma, work related issues.
I offer face to face counselling/psychotherapy, both short term and long term,to adults. I also offer telephone and/or skype sessions when flexibility is required. Sessions are 50-minute and are usually weekly, although fortnightly sessions are also possible and there is some flexibility with regards appointments. I provide appointments in the daytime, evening and some weekends.
I am an integrated therapist and draw from a non-dogmatic and eclectic theoretical framework using a variety of different modalities. Hence, I have the clinical skills to tailor make the therapy to your individual needs. I work in a very collaborative way and we can regularly reveiw the work and modify the approaches in line with what you need.
I have two clinics: one is based in Thurleigh Road Surgery (just off Wandsworth Common,) and the other one is in Balham, which has excellent transport links: there is an over-ground train, tube, bus services and parking, close by. The address and directions of these two clinics can be found on my website at: www.nickpeterstherapy.co.uk

Dr Ismat Nasirrudin, (GP Partner, a Thurleigh Road Surgery, 88A Thurleigh Road, London. SW12 8TT ) says:
' I wanted to pass on my thanks to you for being such an incredible source of support. I can't tell you how helpful it is to have such a high quality service available for our patients and the difference it makes to their wider management. I openly say you 're at the heart of the recovery of many of my patients.
I only feel comfortable recommending people I know, and where I have good feedback on their work. I have go say: I have never had such outstanding feedback on any professional from such a variety of professionals and patients. You are truly life - changing, and this applies to all manner of patients, including the highly complex ( who may of my not have undertaken psychological input before). Your highly individualised approach, and your ability as a psychotherapist to utilise all modalities as necessary for the individual you're seeing, proves truly transformational.
I'm incredibly grateful to have you as a resource, as the number of therapists who adopt a very rigid approach and try to fit people into their approach regardless of what they need is incredibly frustrating.'
