Nichola Hanson-Jones MBACP
I'm a Registered counsellor with experience of working with a range of issues, such as trauma, stress ,anxiety, loss and grief, pain management, low self esteem, feeling sad and loneliness and isolation, to name but a few. I am trained in a range of theories which allows me to individually tailor therapy to meet your own personal needs.
I have a positive view of human nature, believing that we all have within us the ability to become who we wish to be, however from time to time, some of life's experiences such as bereavement, relationship issues, trauma, work issues etc. may prevent us from moving forward on our chosen path.
How can counselling help?
Counselling can help you gain better understanding yourself and the way you think, this will in turn help you develop a clearer understanding of your problems and how to resolve them. it also helps you to develop your emotional resilience meaning that you are better equipped to face future issues.
Speaking in confidence with a counsellor can also help you to gain insight into how you relate to others, understand patterns in behaviour, make lifestyle changes and increase self-confidence, all of which aids both personal and professional growth, as well as, increasing your ability to adapt to stressful situations or crises without lasting difficulties.
Making the decision to attend counselling is a positive step towards achieving emotional well-being, however, like any first step into something new, it can also feel quite daunting. this is why I offer a safe, comfortable environment in which you will feel at ease and supported and where you can freely express your thoughts, feelings and emotions without fear of judgment.
What To Expect In Your First Session
In the first session, it is helpful for me to get a sense of who you are and the problems that have led you to come to therapy.
It can also be useful for me to gain some brief knowledge about you and your family history.
The first appointment helps us to determine how therapy can help or to signpost you to the appropriate help if therapy is not suitable.
Take the first step today and book a free 30-minute consultation to find out if counselling suits your needs.
