New Dawn Counselling Service is a Registered Charity (1148368) and an Organisational Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.
Our team of experienced counsellors aim to provide a professional, compassionate and affordable service within the local community and can offer skilled help and understanding, within a safe and confidential environment.
- About Counselling
There are many causes of emotional pain and often family and friends may be unaware of what you are experiencing. There are times when you may benefit from skilled help and understanding within a safe and confidential environment, which we can provide here at New Dawn.
- Our Services
We provide counselling to individuals and couples at both our Bridgwater and Weston-super-Mare branches. We can offer you appointments at flexible times during the morning, afternoon and evening Monday-Friday. Saturday appointments may also be available if you cannot attend during the week. If a Saturday appointment would be best for you please discuss it with us at your initial assessment.
- Who will I talk to?
In the first instance you will talk to a member of our assessment team. Following your initial assessment we will allocate you to the counsellor who can support you best.
- Is it confidential?
Confidentiality is maintained at every level, except for very exceptional circumstances.
- How much does it cost?
Our mission is to provide counselling that is affordable to everyone. We operate on a sliding scale depending on your income. Our prices range from £15-£35 for individuals and £30-£60 for couples.
We are here for you.
Training, qualifications & experience
The majority of our counsellors are fully qualified and experienced counsellors. We also have a number of trainee counsellors who are in their final year of training and are required to gain counselling experience before being qualified. All of our counsellors are required to meet our high standards before they work with our clients.
All of our counsellors attended training courses and workshops through the year to ensure that their counselling skills are kept up to date.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Donations operate on a sliding scale according to your personal circumstances. Our fees for individuals range from £15-£35 plus a £10 fee for the initial assessment. Our fees for couples range from £30-60 with a £20 fee for the initial assessment.
