About me

I am a fluent bi-lingual English and French integrative psychotherapist, counsellor and supervisor. I also have a very good level in Spanish. My approach to therapy is based on the fact that each person is unique and distinctive and therefore one approach may not fit them all. I place the client-therapist relationship at the heart of an effective therapeutic process providing an honest and non-judgmental stance where your feelings can be expressed and contained in a safe and confidential setting.

My integrative stance allows me the flexibility to adapt to your needs and where you are at the time of therapy. You might want to make sense of the past and explore how it can sometimes be reconstructed in the present or you might seek to get back in touch with your real self through acceptance and a better mind-body connection. I believe that an increased awareness can enable you to gain a greater clarity allowing you to develop long-lasting ways to cope better and start achieving your full potential.

I specialise in short-term and open-ended counselling and psychotherapy for a range of issues varying from temporary worries to complex psychological presentations. I work with individuals and couples as well as supervising counsellors and psychotherapists. I am currently training in my second year for Systemic therapy (Family therapy).

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Master from the University of Roehampton as an integrative psychotherapist and counsellor as well as a diploma in supervision.  As an accredited BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) I abide by their professional code of ethics. I have gained experience within the NHS and charities and have set up a private practice.

I gained an extensive experience as a counsellor within the NHS and charities ranging from providing vocational training for people with mental health to specialising in bereavement. My integrative training allows me to draw from a variety of theoretical approaches, combining existential, cognitive and psychodynamic modalities in a thoughtful way. This includes Mindfulness, Humanistic approaches such as Person Centered, Psychodynamic and Attachment Theory, Cognitive & Behavioural (CBT), Gestalt and Transactional Analysis modalities.

I have gained in 2022 the foundation level for systemic practice at the Prudence Skynner Family & Couple Therapy Clinic, Springfield University hospital (NHS). I am currently in the second year.

In addition I have trained as a Master Practitioner in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and Time-Line Therapy™. I also have specialised in working therapeutically with couples.

A previous working experience overseas has contributed to increase my awareness of how our culture and social world impact on each of us. The ability to work within a multicultural environment and the challenges met when adapting to a new culture draw me to accept work with expatriates and individual with multiple ethnic/nationality origins. I also have a wide experience of working within a business environment having a commercial and business background myself.

I am registered with the Healthcode Private Practice Register and recognised practitioner with AXA PPP Healthcare, AVIVA and Vitality.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

1/ Concerns about engaging in therapy?

  • Fear of collapsing

People may fear they will collapse by opening up. I will aim to explore your fear with sensitivity and diligently so that you have the tools to deal with those painful emotions beforehand.  It’s like building a new scaffolding to reach for those emotions. Therapy is a process like unpeeling layers after layers. In fact you don’t access deeper levels before you are ready to confront them.

  • Fear of being judged and shamed

Exposing your thoughts and feelings to a stranger can feel at first very unsettling. I am trained and remain in on-going personal and professional development that adheres to a code of practice, respects and values your thoughts and feelings. Instead of coming from a judgemental perspective of right or wrong I will empathically explore those from your own lens allowing you to feel safer and emotionally connected.

  • Fear of attachment

Because successful therapies create a strong relationship between your therapist and yourself people may fear they will remain dependent from him/her. It is paramount to the therapeutic process that a positive attachment is created. The weekly support I commit to becomes a source of hope where you can channel your distress and hone new constructive and sustainable changes in your life.

Because the co-created working alliance fosters growth you work towards developing a stronger sense of self that empowers you to feel more robust and eventually feel ready to face life without his/her support. Ending with your therapist is YOUR new beginning!

2/ How do you know you have chosen the right therapist for you?

  • You feel safe:

Opening up about your feelings can be a daunting process as it leaves you vulnerable.  Safety is paramount to any therapeutic relationship. You need to feel safe with your therapist if you are to open up about your upmost fears and desires. By offering you a consistent, caring and confidential space you can express your thoughts. It enabled you to explore and pace the reflective process in a collaborative and non-judgmental manner.

  • You feel heard and understood:

Do you remember a time when a person you didn’t know that well got you? A therapist is able through empathy to be genuinely present and share your feelings from your own perspective. Being seen with the eyes of another, listened with the ears of another and felt with the heart of another is a truly unique and empowering experience.

  • You feel contained:

Your therapist is accompanying you on your journey and his/her presence enables you to explore more deeply issues leading to new meaning-making insights. You feel emotionally supported and the burden of your distress is shared and processed together.
