About me
Hi, I'm Natasha and I can't wait to meet you and begin your journey towards healing. Through exploration and reflection, I hope to support you in gaining the confidence to be able to move forward and foster growth.
The first step can be the hardest and sometimes, having support can make it feel a little less daunting. I will strive to provide you with a safe, nurturing and calming space without judgment where you can gain deeper insight, higher self-awareness and begin to explore emotions and thoughts you may find are impacting you in negative ways right now.
Life can be challenging and also sometimes things happen outside of our control that can leave us with difficult emotions. Counselling can offer a confidential place for you to talk through how you are feeling, learn coping strategies and hopefully clear some head space so you can try and make sense of what is going on for you.
Individuals come to counselling for many different reasons, it may be that they have experienced a hurtful event, a loss, struggling with feelings of low self worth, feeling overwhelmed and just wanting to be heard. Whatever your reasons may be to seek counselling, they are valid and I hope that you are able to benefit from having a space that is yours. We can work through what you have held inside and receive the compassion and empathy that you may not have experienced before to be able to process and heal, in order to make a shift, a change or find the learning from it.
I hope we are able to create and build a supportive relationship where you feel safe to be your authentic self and gain value from your therapeutic journey.
It is important you feel, you and your chosen counsellor could be a good fit. This is why I offer a free 20 minute 'get to know each other' session and there is no expectation or requirement for you to book a follow up session.
I look forward to hearing from you
Training, qualifications & experience
Throughout my work I have supported individuals from diverse backgrounds with various struggles including, individuals with a mental health diagnosis and those at a crisis point in their lives. I have supported individuals with various needs and issues including relationship breakdowns, anxiety, previous trauma, difficult family dynamics and low self esteem. The core model I use is the person centered approach which acknowledges first and foremost that you are the expert in your life and you are an individual with individual needs. I have built on this approach through my experience working in the mental health industry for over ten years to now consider myself a pluralistic practitioner that can draw on different interventions and approaches.
I currently work as a counsellor to students at University and so I have also done alot of work around psychoeducation that can prove useful in supporting individuals to gain a deeper understanding and build strategies and coping techniques for struggles such as low mood, anxiety and poor motivation
I am invested in continued professional development to strengthen my practice, hone my skills and further my knowledge, to best support my clients.
I have a Postgraduate Certificate in Counselling and a Post Graduate Diploma in Person Centred Counselling and Psychotherapy, level 7. This qualification was gained on a course accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
As a member of the BACP I am bound by their Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy and subject to the Professional Conduct Procedure. I take part in regular supervision in order to better my practice and ensure the interests of my clients are looked after.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
