About me

Currently I am working from a private space offering socially distanced indoor and outdoor sessions.  Alternatively, I also work online offering both video and telephone sessions.

My practice is situated between Nottingham and Newark just off the A46. My therapy room is positioned in a private space in a countryside setting which naturally lends itself to private outdoor working. Private parking is available.

Each person is unique, and each relationship is individual therefore I integrate a range of theoretical and philosophical approaches to attend to the individual needs of each client. This can facilitate a sense of wholeness as we explore and integrate our experience. I am interested in working with clients from a variety of diverse backgrounds and experiences. I believe through the therapeutic relationship we can develop an understanding and self- awareness to encourage personal and relational change. Working with developmental and relational trauma is an area of interest for me especially in relation to the immune system. This focuses on the neurological nature of trauma and the client as a whole system - body, mind and soul. I am also drawn to our experience of the natural environment as a therapeutic space which can promote connection and regulation.

Training, qualifications & experience

As a registered member of the BACP, I am fully trained in MSc level 7 Integrative Psychotherapy and continue to work towards UKCP accreditation. I am also qualified to work online after completing a UKCP approved Covid-19 Online Working Guidance course. In addition, I am a graduate member of the British Psychological Society (BPS). I also work in other well-being and counselling roles and abide by the UKCP and BACP professional code of Ethics and Practice.

I have experience of long, mid-term and short-term work, although typically I work mostly with longer term contracts. Situated in the Nottinghamshire countryside my practice setting encourages natural exploration and reflection. I provide an indoor/ outdoor private space that is both unique and engaging. Member organisations

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Additional information

Each session will last 50 minutes in total. It is recommended that we start with weekly sessions as this is beneficial for building a secure working relationship. The number of sessions needed will vary from person to person. Everyone is different and some people need longer than others. This is something that is reviewed as we progress and what is needed emerges. As this is a mutual process, we regularly review our contract together as the work unfolds. You are free to end at any stage and we can negotiate an ending period depending on the length of time we have been working together.

If you are interested in meeting me for an initial consultation, please contact me via phone or email. Alternatively, to find out more visit my website - opengatewaytherapy.uk

All students are charged a concessionary rate of £45 per session.

Further information

After contacting me via phone or email I will invite you for an initial meeting online. This initial meeting will cost you £25. This provides the opportunity for you to share with me your current situation and ask any questions about how I work. This is also a chance for me to decide if I am able to offer what you are looking for. If after this meeting, we are both happy to continue working together we can arrange our first session. Alternatively, you may wish to take time to think about how you feel. You are under no obligation to continue.
