About me

Hello and a warm welcome to my page. I'm Natasha, a counsellor with a background in Psychology. I work with a range of clients including adolescents, parents, individual adults and couples, using a combination of person-centred and psychodynamic approaches. Every individual is different so I will work with you and tailor my approach to meet your specific needs, allowing you the space and time to work at your own pace, and also helping you explore and identify where patterns of behaviour might be rooted in your past experiences.

I have a particular interest and experience in Neurodiversity, working with ASD, ADHD, OCD, either diagnosed or suspected, as well as the anxiety which accompanies them. I believe that regardless of an official diagnosis, the challenges are still the still same and I can help with identifying what is most challenging and developing strategies to make your life easier.

I understand that meeting a new person can be daunting, so to begin with you can send me a message or email detailing what you are struggling with. I will reply with some further details about what I think I can help with, and you can then request a free 30 min phone call to speak further, if you would like. After this you can decide if you would like to work with me, and we can arrange to meet either in person or with an online Microsoft Teams call.

During the first meeting I will conduct an initial assessment of you and your individual needs, and together we will agree on a plan, which may include a combination of talking therapy, setting goals and challenges, and strategies to try at home. I sometimes work creatively, using objects, drawing and visualisation techniques if this is something you are comfortable with.

I can also work with trainee counsellors who are looking to complete personal therapy hours, offering a reduced rate.

Training, qualifications & experience

I studied for a BSc in Psychology before completing my counselling training later in life. I have experience working for many charity organisations, including those specialising in bereavement and young people. I have training and experience with families/parenting, couples and attachment, neurodiversity (ASD, ADHD, OCD), anxiety, depression and anger.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
