About me

You may be feeling overwhelmed by the pressures of life, perhaps lacking in confidence or experiencing anxiety, confusion or simply stuck and unsure of what to do.

Maybe you're currently experiencing emotions and feelings you can’t name or relationship problems and can’t seem to stop the same situations from happening time and time again.

I'm a trained and qualified Integrative Counsellor with experience in helping people with problems such as: depression, anxiety, domestic violence, personality disorders, addictions, sexual abuse, and relationship based issues, loss, identity and low self esteem.

It's possible that your usual way of dealing with life’s difficulties just isn’t working for you anymore, and you need a new approach. This is where therapy with me can play a very important role in helping you to overcome these obstacles.

Being able to share your difficulties and struggles without the burden of guilt or shame can be one of the most daunting things one can do especially when our social norms, culture, or upbringing dictate that it is a weakness to expose our vulnerabilities. We therefore internalise our struggles which can lead to mental distress, isolation and despair.

I appreciate that it can be a difficult decision to make when searching for that someone who will be on your side who will not judge, or, tell you what to do, say or think! I understand that it’s not easy finding that kind of person under any circumstance, but, maybe this time that someone can be me.

How I work

As an integrative therapist, I help people to develop a better understanding of themselves and their difficulties by providing a supportive and consistent presence which fosters an environment that promotes growth and change. My role is to support you through your difficulties, and, help you to tap into your inner strength and potential for living a more satisfying and balanced life.

I am warm and empathic by nature, and will listen with interest to what you have to say without judgment or criticism whilst helping you to make sense of what’s been bothering you. I am committed to being transparent in the therapeutic relationship which sometimes means I will gently challenge unhelpful thoughts or behaviours with a view to supporting you to develop a positive and healthier way of being.

Throughout our time together, I may ask you questions about your earliest experiences or relationships which will help me to understand what may be going on for you now, but, rest assured we will only go at your pace and as far as you feel comfortable.

I will also look at what is happening for you now to see how you currently experience things in the present day, and, work with you towards a healthier way of being by exploring alternative management strategies. The therapeutic relationship is instrumental in promoting psychological change, therefore; our relationship will give me an insight to how you relate to others outside of the therapeutic space, and will serve as a platform to helping you make positive changes in those relationships as well as the one you have with yourself.

I am happy to answer any questions you may have so please get in touch

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
