About me

Do you need to talk to

Are you trying to overcome a problem and you need to talk about it, struggling to manage life events, such as loss or bereavement, or have feelings of stress, depression or anxiety? Do you need support in a time of difficulty or crisis? Are you finding family and or relationships difficult, going through divorce, separation, affair or betrayal? Do you feel you are lacking fulfilment in your life's choices and want to make changes?

Everyone is an individual and are affected in different ways with life's events, together we can find a way forward that suits you - one size does not fit all.

I feel that counselling can help clients to gain self-awareness, acceptance and develop a positive sense of self-worth. My counselling approach is the Relational Model which draws on the Person Centred and Psychodynamic approaches.

I offer counselling and psychotherapy and as a therapist I believe in creating a confidential, empathic, comfortable, safe and none judgmental space where together we can explore the clients issues at their own pace. This can lead to the client having a better understanding enabling them to deal with their issues making the changes required.

Together we will consider how past experiences may have affected present relationships and patterns of relating to others.  We can explore the struggles and difficulties you are experiencing, to find a more positive way forward and understanding of oneself.

Experience And Qualifications?

As a fully qualified counsellor and registered member of the professional body, British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP), I adhere to their professional code of ethics and practice.

I have over 18 years counselling experience working with clients with a wide variety of issues using both short and longer term models. EAP's welcome.

As well as working in private practice I have also been working at the charitable counselling organisation, Leeds Counselling.

Testimonials from some of my clients.

"I reluctantly came to counselling however after a couple of sessions with Natalie I realised the time with her was for me to feel able to try process what thoughts I had and how to deal with them"

"I am in a much better and healthier place both physically and mentally. Am really grateful for the time and patience natalie has given me, for making me feel comfortable and not judged. It has been difficult at times to say things that have been on my mind and Natalie was 110% the ideal person to help meet through it."

'I'd hoped to gain my confidence back - I feel, I fully achieved what I wanted to and more, I also believe I have better knowledge to help me deal with different situations that I will encounter as I move forward in my life. Thank you so much..."

Self help, not diagnostic.  Good to reflect on ones self rather than have words put into my mouth.  I have been able to feel good about when things go great but also cope when things go back a step or two.  Not judgemental, helped me reflect and come up with my own insights and conclusions.”

“I have reduced my drug and alcohol considerably as a result which helps me think more clearly and my health has improved and I have more energy.  I found her very down to earth and gave me more input than I had had from previous counsellors (not just nodding and saying how do you feel about that).”

“She let me talk and waited for me to talk.  I liked that she challenged the way I saw things as it made me question myself, as hard as that is, it made me realise how I’m not always helping myself”.

“I have been able to work through my anger and regain control of my feelings.  I feel more able to communicate how I feel and now have the tools to continue to rebuild my relationships.  Natalie challenged me gently when I needed it.  Counselling has been a really positive experience for me and I never imagined feeling as I do now when I started out.”

“It has helped me to understand myself, I have become aware of how I react to others and why.  I have learnt to deal with my life in a more positive way.  Natalie helped clarify situations and gave me an insight into myself.  I have benefited enormously from the experience.  It has helped me in all aspects of my life and has given me the tools with which to deal with life.”

“Thank you so much for all your help and support.  Where would I be without you?  I guess I’ll soon find out!”

“She encouraged me to talk about how I felt and made me see some things form a different aspect.  She was very calm which helped me a great deal as I tend to keep my emotions to myself, which in the past has lead to a great deal of anger and frustration.”

“She knew how hard to ‘push’ me to talk about the very painful things which I knew I needed to but was afraid of.”

“The sessions was very very helpful.  They got me through very hard times.  It was a rollercoaster of emotions for me.”

“She challenged me and lead me to find my own answers.  Thank you for all your help.”

“My counselling has helped me put things into perspective more.  It’s given me the knowledge and understanding to help me deal with my situation and be more positive.  I am now looking to the future.  Natalie would listen and take on board what I had to say.  Not be judgemental.  She helped me face problems full on, and encouraged me to take responsibility for my own actions”.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority.
