About me

I understand that sometimes life can be hard and that you need a little help; I have great respect for anyone who can recognise they are struggling and decide to do something about it.

I have a straight-forward, honest and caring attitude. You won't find my room filled with dream catchers and I won't bombard you with psycho-jargon, nor is there anything mysterious or new age about what I do. I aim to provide affordable and approachable counselling for adults and young people.

My style of counselling, put simply, is about enabling  you to gain perspective and understanding about your thoughts, feelings and behaviour so you can make positive changes, overcome difficulties and feel better.

**Now offering Walk and Talk Counselling - as it sounds, it's counselling on the go, in local parks and round town. See my website for more details.**

Further information

I am a Humanistic/Integrative counsellor. The core of my training is Person-Centred; this means that I aim to provide empathy, congruence and unconditional positive regard, which enables my clients to become more aware of and in touch with themselves. This greater self awareness, together with a good therapeutic relationship, provides the environment for positive change.

As an Integrative practitioner, I incorporate ideas from a range of therapeutic approaches so that I can provide counselling that is appropriate to you and the issues you bring to the sessions.

Here are some of the therapeutic approaches I might use to enrich my work:

  • Existentialism

  • Coherence Therapy
  • Solution-focused therapy

  • CBT

  • Psychodynamic

  • Mindfulness

  • Art therapy

If you have any questions about counselling the answers might be on my website, or you're welcome to send me an email/give me a ring
