Naomi Nightingale MBACP - Experienced Counsellor
Hello, my name is Naomi and I am an experienced counsellor offering sessions to individuals and couples as well as separated parent mediation. I offer both short term counselling (up to 6 sessions) and longer term in which counselling takes place over a number of months or years.
People find they are sometimes overwhelmed with events in their life from the past and in the present. There are times in life when it can be really useful to talk to some someone who will really listen, not judge, who will enable you to be heard and understood.
Counselling for individuals
I work with people experiencing all sorts of challenges and difficulties including relationship issues, anxiety, stress, depression, sadness, parenthood, trauma, low self esteem. My experience and training provide a place for you to be, to talk and to work through issues at your own pace, to gain a deeper understanding of yourself and situation. I integrate different models of therapy and techniques in order to offer the most useful counselling for each individual person.
“I started counselling because I was struggling with anxiety and depression - a lot of it linked to struggling with grief. Meeting Naomi enabled me to be honest and open for the first time and helped me to understand and accept the feelings that I had been struggling with”
“Meeting with Naomi for counselling has been incredible beneficial to me. She has given me some very practical tools and ideas that I have been able to develop and practice in between sessions”
“I started counselling following many significant traumas in my life and Naomi was understanding and compassionate from the beginning. She has consistently validated my experiences and enabled me to feel believed and truly listened to. I have been able to explore difficult emotions and talk about painful memories in a safe and non-judgmental atmosphere. Naomi has made me feel genuinely cared about and this has increased my self worth and confidence. I would highly recommend counselling with Naomi and know that she will make you feel welcome, safe and supported.”
I would also add that I not only offer a place for you to talk - many clients find the practical exercises and techniques I offer very useful. Many speak about processing and thinking about the issues between our sessions and additionally learn to make positive and practical changes to their everyday lives which often result in them saying that they are 'feeling better', 'coping better', 'caring about themselves more'.
Counselling for Couples
Couples who come to counselling often want to give their relationship some attention, be it a specific issue or a general sense of 'things not being quite right'. Relationships and people change and develop over time so communication, intimacy and re-negotiation are key.
Sessions would give you an opportunity to talk issues and problems through and also find practical ways to support yourselves and the relationship itself. I offer practical 'exercises' that can be used outside of the sessions. I encourage couples to examine the foundation of their relationship: what are the strengths are there any cracks? We would look at what you both bring to the relationship from the past. Couples say that they find sessions a useful place to identify patterns of being with one another and to make changes.
“I started counselling because I was stressed and this was effecting my relationship with my wife and children. It enabled me to deal with my life in a more positive way”
"I’d recommend Naomi because she is easy to talk to and she provides impartial support to enable both my husband and I to navigate issues we needed to discuss”.
“Counselling with Naomi was useful because we have been able to discuss issues openly that we would not otherwise of been able to”.
