I hold Accreditation with European Association Psychotherapy EAP which enables me to practice clinically in Europe. I am also an IMAGO Relational Trained Therapist.
My practice is based in Lancaster, Lancashire, in easy reach of M6. I am also able to support you wherever you may be, in whatever country or location- via Skype to enable remote working.
I bring my understanding, warmth and sensitivity to my meetings with you. In this, I help to create a safe space in which you can explore your issues and experiences with the aim of enabling you to create more life enhancing choices and to live your life more fully.

I am a recognized registered provider with leading U.K. Health Insurance Companies. Some of the people attending my clinics are funded through private health insurance, the fees being paid directly by the insurer. However some people are self-financing. If you are covered by health insurance you should inform your insurer of a referral and confirm your level of cover in the first instance. (The financial contract for payment will exist with yourself and should your insurer decline to pay your account in whole or in part, you may be held personally responsible for payment of the account). It is therefore in your own interests to always contact your insurer, confirm your level of cover and obtain agreement prior to your initial appointment. Your insurance details, including membership number will be required in advance in order to book an initial appointment.
Individuals There are times in everyone’s life when we need help and support from others. Often when faced with issues such as loss, relationship difficulties and life stresses which can bring overwhelming feelings of anger, sadness and grief. Whatever it is, I can help you to discover ways for you to restore the balance in your life and become the contented, happy person you deserve to be. I have the skills and experience to help you uncover what’s really going on, causing you to feel unhappy.
Couples I work with couples to explore and find more satisfying ways in which they can enjoy being together. Many couples embark on their journey together happy, hopeful and certain their good feeling will continue. However, some find that over time they drift apart, still living together but feeling disconnected. Others find themselves falling into a loop of resentments or conflict with resulting breakdown in relationship and unable to move on together.
Couples come for therapy for all kinds of reasons. Maybe you are struggling with emotional, sexual or physical intimacy, divorce, separation, an affair or communication difficulties. Whatever the reason, I can provide a space and time where you can both learn more about your struggles while exploring ways to enhance your relationship.
How do I work?
By paying close attention to the rhythms and patterns of communication (often familiar) in your relationship we will discover how you support or diminish your levels of satisfaction and intimacy. Exploring your history together and you’re past family experiences can illuminate other factors that contribute to your current situation. The aim is to find choice points where you can make new decisions, experiment with doing things differently and find more support for the kind of relationship you want. I am passionate about the work I engage in with couples and I have very positive feedback from clients.
Children Children go through tough times too and they can be effectively supported through therapy. I provide a non-threatening space for your child to explore with a purpose. There are many therapeutic activities that can be done with children through play so they don’t even know they are receiving counselling. This can take the form of drawing, storytelling, using puppets, role play or sand play. The first indication that something is wrong may be when your child starts to misbehave more than usual. Other signs might be that your child seems very tired, lacks motivation to go to school or play with friends or engages in behaviour that is inappropriate for the child’s age, for example, acting as though they are younger than their years. It may be that you are going through a difficult time yourself and this is having an impact on your child, in which case it might be an idea to consider counselling for yourself instead of or as well as your child. I would begin by inviting you to an introductory session for you to ask any questions you may have and for me to give you an idea of how counselling works, discussing things like confidentiality. This also gives your child the opportunity to meet me whilst you are present. After this initial session, you will be asked to leave the room whilst counselling takes place (50 mins) and it is useful if you are able to be contactable during this time.
Teens I work in a non-threatening, non-judgmental way using your own natural talents and interests. For example, if you enjoy drawing, then this can be used within the sessions through art activities to explore the difficulties you are facing. I have worked with issues such as self-harm, eating disorders, relationship issues, low self-esteem, body image and abuse. I would begin by inviting you to an introductory session for you to ask any questions you may have and for me to give you an idea of how counselling works, discussing things like confidentiality. If you are under 18, I will also need a parent or guardian to come to this initial meeting to give their permission for you to have counselling.

Over the past 20 years in the UK, I have worked with many clients from a variety of different backgrounds, presenting a wide range of issues. In addition to the above I continue to undertake workshops and trainings for my own personal and professional development. So while trust takes time to establish in any relationship, I believe it is vital to good counselling or psychotherapy. The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Most people find that my approach of working with them, within the therapeutic relationship offers them a different experience. This in turn offers them a way to make a difference in their own lives, in their relationships and with themselves and others.
Counselling & Psychotherapy Consultations
After making initial contact with you I then offer an initial fifty minute consultation and assessment in a comfortable room in my practice in Lancaster, Lancashire. Following this, a therapeutic agreement will typically be reached which involves regular fifty minute meetings usually weekly.
Frequency and Duration of Counselling & Psychotherapy Sessions
An arrangement /contract will be agreed. It is possible to agree a fixed number of therapeutic sessions. This may be suitable for brief work, where all that is required is to concentrate on a particular difficulty or relationship issue.
Psychotherapy is usually longer term and involves exploring underlying issues and unresolved conflicts. Periodically, we will review your journey in counselling and therapy with me, both to mark progress and to focus on future direction together.
I am available to offer counselling and psychotherapy - I see individuals, couples, young people and children for short, medium and long term work on relationship and other issues.
My fees are by arrangement and you can pay in person by cash or cheque when we meet -

What is Counselling and Psychotherapy?
Therapy offers you a safe, confidential space where you will be listened to carefully and without judgment. Gestalt therapists view each person as having the potential to live satisfying and creative lives. Unfortunately this potential can be held back in the form of old ideas, feelings and habitual behaviour.
The aim of Gestalt therapy is to increase awareness of how we think, feel and act. When we know what we are doing and how we have greater choice about change, growth and healing.
The Gestalt approach is holistic. People are considered as whole, we cannot be understood in isolation from our environment, nor can we be understood by isolating mind from body or soul. All these aspects of our existence are inter-related from a Gestalt perspective.
The relationship between the Gestalt therapist and client is one that is based on authenticity, mutuality and confirmation. Philosophically it is supported by Dialogic Existentialism – we come to know ourselves through meeting another.
