About me

For a quick introduction, please have a look at my 15 second video towards the bottom of the page.

I am a warm, friendly, and compassionate therapist. I specialise in working with women experiencing low self-esteem. This may show up as worrying and overthinking, self-critical thoughts, body image concerns, feeling low or unmotivated, people pleasing or doubting your abilities. Or perhaps you are struggling with your relationships, imposter syndrome or perfectionism.

I also have experience working with women going through the menopause (see published article below), post-natal depression, and miscarriage. I work with clients from different cultures and backgrounds.

My aim is to offer you a supportive, non-judgemental, and confidential space, where you feel genuinely heard and understood. We can explore whatever is troubling you now, as well as how your past experiences may have impacted you. I also offer Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) based strategies and resources to help you manage your thoughts and feelings and make changes.

As a woman in midlife and a mum of grown-up children, I have lived through the many trials and tribulations that life throws at us, and it’s this combination of my personal experiences, my extensive training, and my passion to help others, that I bring to the counselling room.

What to do next?

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me. The best way to reach me is by email. I aim to reply within 24 hours (except weekends). If you do not hear from me, please check your spam folder.

I offer a free 15-minute consultation, with no obligation.

If you would like more information about what to do once you’ve decided to try counselling, and what the first session involves, take a look at my website on “What to do next?” https://www.gateway-counselling.com/contact/

Please note, I am currently only offering online and telephone counselling.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
