I am a qualified and registered member of BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and abide by their code of ethics and standards. I offer counselling to individuals, both adults and young people. As a qualified child therapist, I use creative approaches and play skills to enable the therapeutic relationship. I have over 25 years of experience in the mental health field, gaining diverse experience working with adults, families and young people from a variety of social and ethnic backgrounds.
As an integrative counsellor, I draw upon different theories and approaches to help me understand you and what best suits you in the work we do together. I believe in valuing the individual's choice to set the pace for their counselling and, accordingly will offer a flexible approach tailored to your particular needs. Working collaboratively, we will explore your concerns to gain insight and awareness and decide on your goals for your therapy.
"Do you need help getting back on track?"
Sometimes, we may face difficulties and personal challenges and feel unable to cope with life's demands. When we lose perspective, it can affect our thinking and we can easily feel overwhelmed. In counselling, we can look at these behaviours which may be contributing towards feeling stuck in limiting ways, in order to find an enhanced way of living more happily.
"Do you need to talk to someone, but are not sure where to turn?"
I appreciate that it can feel daunting to start to talk about yourself to a counsellor, but you will be in the right place, as I will help you to feel that you are not under pressure to commit to more than you wish to.
I provide a quiet, safe and confidential space in my private setting. I strongly believe the relationship between the counsellor and client is key towards effective change and personal growth for you. I will treat you with respect, and be warm and accepting, its important to not feel judged, therefore, I will listen to you and help you to gain a better understanding of yourself.
I value your uniqueness and embrace diversity.
I offer both short and longer-term therapy and, sessions can be weekly according to your individual needs and what you want to achieve.
"What happens next?"

Other areas of counselling I deal with; anger management, issues of confidence and low self-esteem, bullying, self-harm, sibling difficulties, issues connected to attachment difficulties, school related difficulties.
As a child therapist, my training has informed me that young children work at a different cognitive level than adults. Using the creative arts in a therapeutic way and, facilitating play skills can act as a safe medium enabling young people to safely express their worries and anxieties in their therapy.
I offer supportive interventions for parents/carers in order to assist with difficulties in their relationship with their child and, sometimes this can involve looking at their own attachment difficulties which prevents them from bonding effectively with their child.
