About me

I am a highly experienced counsellor and psychotherapist with over 20 years of experience in the mental health field.  I offer counselling to adults, young people and children. As a qualified and registered member of BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) I adhere to their code of ethics and standards.

As an integrative counsellor I will draw upon different theories and approaches to help me understand you, and what best suits you in the work we do together.  I believe in valuing the individual's choice to set the pace for their counselling, and accordingly will offer a flexible approach tailored to your particular needs.  Working collaboratively we will explore your concerns to gain insight and awareness to decide on your goals for your therapy.

As a qualified child therapist, I will use creative approaches and play skills to help children and young people be able, to more easily express their difficulties and experiences.

"Do you need help getting back on track?"

Sometimes in life we may face difficulties and personal challenges, and feel unable to cope with what is thrown at us.  When we lose perspective, it can affect our thinking and we can easily feel overwhelmed and stressed.  In counselling, together we can look at these behaviours which may be contributing towards feeling stuck, in order to find an enhanced way of living more happily.

"Do you need to talk to someone, but are not sure where to turn?"

I appreciate that it can feel daunting to start to talk about yourself to a counsellor, but you will be in the right place. I will value you and help you to feel that you are not under pressure to commit to more than you wish to.

I strongly believe that the relationship between the counsellor and client, is key towards effective change and personal growth for you.  I will treat you with respect, be warm and accepting, it's important to not feel judged, therefore, I will listen to you and help you to gain a better understanding of yourself.

I value your uniqueness and embrace diversity.

In my private practice, I provide a quiet, safe and confidential space, with easy access to Stone and surrounding countryside.

I offer both short and longer-term therapy, sessions can be weekly according to your individual needs and what you want to achieve.

"What happens next?"

Please feel free to contact me with any further questions. If I am unable to answer my phone, please leave a message and I will return your call.  If you are interested, we will arrange to meet for an initial consultation where you can decide what you wish to do.

I would be very happy to hear from you.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

I have worked with clients on many issues including: anxiety, depression, stress, ill-health, suicidal thoughts, panicky feelings, low mood, repetitive compulsive behaviours, eating disorders, relationship issues, family issues/breakdown, bereavement, loss, alcohol addiction, abuse, trauma, miscarriage and loss, isolation, work related issues, life changes.

Other areas of counselling: anger management, issues of low confidence and self-esteem, bullying, self-harm, sibling difficulties, attachment difficulties, school related difficulties.

Child Therapy

As a child therapist my training has informed me that developmentally, young children function at different cognitive levels compared to adults.  Therefore, in the therapeutic relationship I am able to use the creative arts and facilitate play skills as a safe medium, which enables young people to safely express their worries and anxieties in their therapy.

I also offer supportive interventions for parents/carers in order to assist with difficulties in their relationship with their child, which is preventing them from effectively bonding. Sometimes, if needed this can involve looking at attachment difficulties.

My fees are £40 for a counselling hour of 50 minutes during day time hours and £45 for evenings and Saturdays.

Concessions are available for students.
