About me

“I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to become.” – Carl Gustav Jung

Life is filled with unexpected and sometimes painful waves of change. At times there are exciting periods of flow towards our hopes and dreams, periods that feel fulfilling, full of meaning, and movement. But there are times when our lives encounter ebbs that can be painful, confusing, and make us feel lost and alone. You may currently be stuck in a moment of crisis or simply be tired of feeling overwhelmed by a recurring problem that won’t go away.

You are not alone, and you do not have to brave the storms on your own. Reaching out for professional help is the first step toward healing and an opportunity for change and transformation that moves you closer and closer to creating the life you choose to live. As a psychotherapist, psychologist and author of two psychology books, I have more than 20 years of experience in supporting adults, and couples manage the changing tides of their lives.

I believe each individual is unique and as an integrative therapist who has practiced in Kenya and Canada I draw from different schools of thoughts and different types of treatment to create a personalised and supportive approach. This approach will help us unearth ways in which to move toward healing and help you realise your potential as a powerful alchemist - able to turn your pain into wisdom. Some of the main areas of focus I work with include depression, anxiety and panic, traumas, phobias, and relationship issues. I use a mixture of Talk Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) and other techniques and approaches to create a safe, accepting, and contained environment that can support your individual unique needs.

I offer long and short-term therapeutic support both online and in person.  I am also a qualified supervisor and offer supervision in person and/or online to qualified practitioners who need a professional holding space. Please feel free to contact me for a free, no-obligation 10 minute chat or if you have any questions or would like to know more about my approach to therapy and/or supervision.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
