Monica Zenonos UKCP ,reg MBACP, EMDR Assoc.Uk & ireland
I am a qualified accredited psychotherapist with several years experience in a wide variety of issues. I have dealt with many issues ranging from depression, anxiety, relationship problems, and issues stemming from early childhood to personal development (exploring who you really are), finding meaning and purpose and working with change and loss.
I have specific expertise in dealing with trauma and I am an experienced EMDR practitioner.EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing) is particularly useful for dealing with traumatic events and flashbacks, PTSD etc and is the recommended treatment of choice for the NHS when dealing with trauma. I am registered with EMDR Association UK & Ireland. but am also experienced in various other techniques which are specific to dealing with trauma (Graded exposure, narrative exposure therapy, and other body therapy techniques .My experience in trauma comes from working for a Trauma service for several years.
Therapy is a place which can guide you in experiencing life more fully and gives you some breathing space. It is a place to reflect and allow yourself the opportunity to really talk about what matters to you , be understood and supported and encouraged to grow and find a way of living that provides you with a sense of meaning, purpose and fulfilment. It can help to clear the fog and shift feelings of being stuck and feeling too hopeless to change anything. It can help you feel alive again and improve your self confidence.I will help you make sense of the times in your life which set up the patterns and difficulties which you are still experiencing now. Therapy gives you more choice and can open up new ways of being. This can then support relationships you have which you want to keep or it can support you to make changes. It can help you find ways to relate more easily and freely with people around you. It can also provide the support you need when going through a stage of transition in your life; whether it's connected to work, love, family, friendship, loss or health issues. It improves self -esteem and self-worth.
I provide both long term and short term counselling and psychotherapy and work in a relational way which aims to support and gently challenge existing patterns in order to improve self-awareness and foster greater freedom and choice.
In addition I offer clinical supervision and have been working as a supervisor at a leading mental health Charity for a few years years and supervise trainees and counsellors from various modalities. I provide supervision to counsellors and psychotherapists. I believe in providing a safe and supportive space for therapists to explore and develop their practice and reflect upon their work.
My work is relational and creative, transpersonal and integrative.
I also offer workshops in Creative Writing for Personal Development and Reflective Practice. Please contact me for further details.
