About me

COUPLES
I am a highly experienced relational therapist specialising in couples work.  I can help you find a new understanding about what is going on below the surface.  I explore unconscious patterns, family influences and accepting difference.  Trust and intimacy are often key issues.  I am practical, collaborative and creative, working flexibly weekly or fortnightly. Fees are negotiable on request.

WHY ME?
Searching through a directory for the right therapist  can be hard.  You need human contact to decide who to work with so I offer a free intro ZOOM or phone session to see if there is a good fit between us.

I work on line and also see people face to face in a consulting room next to Golders Green Tube station.

HOW I WORK
My focus with both couples and individuals is to help you get more out of life in the present.  An early improvement in mood will build confidence and pave the way for other changes.  I can help you deal with worrying, arguing and generally 'over thinking' in ways which might surprise you.

I start by deep listening and providing a safe space.  You need trust to explore  your life situation and tackle present difficulties, particularly where anxiety, stress or depression might affect day to day living.

My approach to theory is blended, drawing on humanistic psychology, psychodynamic principles and ACT Therapy

SUPERVISION
As a qualified clinical supervisor,  I also offer supervision to therapists

Training, qualifications & experience

My twenty five years working in the NHS has given me the competence and confidence to help people make the changes, quickly, effectively and efficiently.  Before that I worked and co ran a low cost Community Counselling Centre.

I also have work background in marketing and TV and so have extensive personal experience working in demanding, high stress working situations.   This has led me to run trainings and coaching in communication and interviewing.

Qualifications

Degree in Psychology from Manchester University
Training: 3 Year Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling
Tavistock IAPT  Training in Couples Counselling
Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Supervision
NLP Master Practitioner

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
