About me

A warm welcome to my profile.

I am an accredited Psychotherapist offering, Talking therapy, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR) and the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) for adults.

I am able to support in person sessions within a comfortable and welcoming therapy space, or online meetings for those who do not wish to attend in person, or are from a wider geographical area.

I welcome referrals throughout the United Kingdom, and I am able to work with over sea's client's within a number of countries.

I am an integrative therapist, with the foundation of my therapeutic approach being Person-Centered. This means that creating an environment that places emphasis on and building both trust and security, without judgement, will form the basis for our work together.

My commitment to continuous training leads me to study in different area's of wellbeing. I feel that the more knowledge I have, the greater my ability to understand and support a diverse client base.

There are a number of specific areas in which I hold higher level qualifications and a deeper level of knowledge and understanding. These are:

Domestic Violence and Sexual Abuse

I hold a Masters Degree in domestic violence and sexual abuse. I work sensitively with those who have experienced dysfunctional family and intimate relationships that are now impacting their wellbeing as adults, and those that have experienced early trauma and/or abuse.

Panic Attacks, Anxious Feelings, Obsessive thinking, Phobia's

I have over twenty four years’ experience of supporting those whom are experiencing difficulty with anxious and panic driven feelings.  I have created a specific website resource www.itsjustafeeling.co.uk where you are able to visit and learn more about the work I do in this area.

Early Trauma, Traumatic Events, Flashbacks and Post Traumatic Stress

I hold a particular interest in early trauma and the ongoing impact to future wellbeing and relating.  I have experience of supporting adults and young people who have experienced traumatic events, or who are experiencing Complex- Post Traumatic Stress, Post Traumatic Stress and/or flashbacks, where the past continues to impact the present. I work in a trauma informed way to support you in learning how to manage your symptoms and to process your trauma through a greater understanding of who you are and what has happened to you.

Bereavement, Grief and Loss

I have spent a number of years supporting death, dying, bereavement and loss within a hospice based environment. Supporting people whom have experienced the death of a loved one or people who are dying remains a fundamental part of my practice.

Testimonials

‘Michelle helped me to find ways to express my feelings, she was someone I saw once a week that helped to save my life. I now know how to solve and face life's struggles and learn in my own self how to acknowledge these feelings. I have learnt that it is OK to feel them. I still have some struggles but I can cope now. Michelle saved my life and stopped me when I was going to rock bottom.  I now love myself and I am more independent. It has been life changing to me and my life’ (Young Person)

***** is such a strong independent individual now. Thank you, you have helped our daughter to become strong again. She has more self-confidence, is happier, sleeps, and we have our daughter back again. From the first phone call,  we have found the counselling service excellent and we are so pleased we sent our daughter to Michelle’ (Parent Feedback)

‘Full details given at the assessment session, I knew what to expect. Michelle has always shown respect and interest towards my religious and cultural values/ beliefs which has been fundamental for me. It has been brilliant and has helped me enormously, I am forward thinking and back to my positive confident self once again’ (Adult Feedback)
