Michelle Vickers (MBACP) BSc (hons) (O.A.Dip, Children and Adolescents)
Hello, I am Michelle. I am a therapeutic Counsellor and I work with adults, children and young people. My specialist areas are bereavement, grief and loss and depression, anxiety, panic attacks and phobias, however, I have experience of working with all of the issues listed on my profile.
Alongside my private practice, I am the children and young peoples counsellor within a local hospice, helping children and young people to express difficult feelings. Within the hospice I also support adult clients, pre and post bereavement as well as clients who are within their last twelve months of life after recieving a terminal diagnosis.
The foundation of my therapeutic work is Person Centred, however, I consider myself to be an Integrative Therapist, which means that use my knowledge and training in a number of different theories to meet the needs of each client that I work with.
I have training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Life Coaching, Transactional Analysis, Bereavement, and working with LGBT people.
In addition, I hold BSc Honours Degree in Therapeutic Counselling and a Diploma in counselling children and adolescents as well as a Level four certificate in counselling children.
I can work therapeutically with children from the age of four.
I strive to provide a safe confidential space for client's to explore their thoughts and feelings and I have no judgement.
I use a selection of tools, training, and experience to ensure I help clients as effectively as possible, using creative techniques as well as talking, whatever works best for the individual client.
I use two counselling rooms in Brighouse. Occasionally, in addition I use a room in Queensbury.
I hold a current DBS Certificate and I am fully insured.
