Michelle Shanley BA (hons) Dip in TA Psychotherapy, MBACP
I understand that making the decision to speak to someone about our problems can be daunting. My approach to therapy is everyone has the capacity to change if they want to and everyone is as OK as everyone else. I believe in this ethos and it underpins my work with people. You could come and see me for one session and use the experience to help decide if you would like to begin therapy, I offer a free initial session to help you make this decision. You may have an understanding of what you want to change or you may just feel like something isn't right and you would like to feel better, I can offer help in either case.
I work with individuals, couples and groups and I have a therapy room at my home in Hutton Cranswick. This ensures discretion and privacy for you. I believe I can help people with ranging difficulties; you may not be able to express them in words but feel dissatisfaction in one or several areas of your life.
I have had therapy myself and so know what that experience was like for me. At times I found it difficult but I am so glad I have as I have explored myself within my world and feel far more grounded and content as a result. I think that an understanding of myself is essential when working with others.
I am compassionate, respectful and empathic, I work using the model Transactional Analysis, the ethos of which is everyone has the capacity to think, change and is equal to all others.
