About me

Hello welcome to my profile. I am currently available to see clients via Video call ,Skype, team's, email or over the phone.

I'm passionate about the well being of people . I have had a lot of first hand experience in my own personal life of the affects that mental health issues can have, not only on the individual, but also on family and friends and how hopeless life can feel .Because of this I chose a career path that enabled me to help people find the root causes of their problems whatever they may be, to enable them to understand them better and work through them. The aim to eradicate symptoms rather than masking them. To help people get the meaning back in their lives and live a more fulfilling life free from crippling symptoms .

Before opening my own practice I worked for 5 years for the leading company in the country that pioneered in the recovery of traumatised children. Working within a dynamic and challenging environment dealing with children's severe trauma and behaviours with the aim to reintegrate them back into the community .

By working with children first it gave me invaluable insight into the effects our childhood plays on who we become as adults. By learning about behaviours and their underlying meaning it is possible to identify what kind of trauma has been suffered and look into the child's, or adult's internal working model (how they see themselves, others and the world) to correct negative thinking patterns and behaviours that have been formed, and the negative coping mechanisms that sustained them.

Why do we need counselling?

Unaddressed issues, emotions, experiences, trauma, become suppressed, or buried alive waiting to resurface in life in order to be dealt with. They can be triggered by day to day life. You may not realise that you have unaddressed issues so you may be battling against internal conflicts which produce such symptoms as, anxiety, stress, depression, OCD, eating disorders, physical problems such as unexplained pains, attachment issues, relationship issues. the list goes on.

Many clients do not understand where changes in themselves have come from, some can pinpoint them, but do not know how to resolve them. Others can spend years suffering and putting up with their issues which continually have a crippling hold on them, and some just do not know why they feel the way they do, is this you?

How I can help ?

As a psychodynamic counsellor I provide a safe, warm, comforting and confidential environment where you will feel at ease to discuss your issues. I can help you by examining your life, from childhood up to the present to explore where your issues have come from and what your triggers are, working through them with you in order help find a resolution so you can live a more meaningful life, and move forward. I do this by helping you gain insight into how the messages received in childhood affects who you are in adulthood. They form our thinking processes, belief systems, our behaviours and reactions to situations, and how we view ourselves. They shape who we are and how resilient we are, understanding habits, behaviours, thinking patterns, identifying where they come from and understanding negative copying mechanism, gives insight and enlightenment making it possible to create real positive changes in your life.

Training, qualifications & experience

I worked in child trauma recovery for 5 years where I gained a degree in therapeutic childcare recovery which gave me invaluable insight into trauma and how its affects are carried through life if there is no intervention and are the cause of many issues we need help with overcoming. I wanted to transfer my skills to work with adults so went on to study for another 3 years in advanced Professional Psychotherapeutic Counselling. I passed with distinction . I specialise in trauma recovery and many areas such as anxiety, depression, self esteem issues, OCD, stress, grief and loss, negative thought processes and patterns of behaviour, attachment styles, and many more. I'm an accredited member of the National Counselling Society and adhere to their ethical framework.
