About me
Based in Newbury | In-person, Online & Telephone Sessions
Hello and welcome. I’m Michelle, a humanistic counsellor offering a calm, compassionate space where you can explore whatever is on your mind, at your own pace and without judgement.
I understand how important it is to feel safe, heard and accepted in the counselling room. My intention is to create a space where you feel comfortable to share your thoughts and feelings, and where you will be met with patience and warmth. I’m here to support you in making sense of what’s going on for you.
My goal is to help you gain clarity, insight and a deeper understanding of yourself and your experience. From there, we can explore any changes you might like to make.
How I Can Help
People come to me with a wide range of experiences, including:
- Emotional struggles such as anxiety, low mood, low self-esteem, anger, overwhelm and pressure
- Relationship and communication challenges, whether with family, partners, friends or colleagues
- Workplace concerns, including stress and redundancy
- Experiences of abuse
- Life changes and transitions
- Bereavement and loss
If you’d like to find out more or book an initial chat, I’d love to hear from you.
Bereavement Counselling
I have additional training and experience in supporting people through grief and loss. Grief is deeply personal, shaped by your relationship with the person who has died, the circumstances of their death, and your personal situation now. I’ll support you to make sense of your own unique experience, without judgement and at your pace. Together, we can look at what has happened, what you’re feeling now, and what you’d like for your future.
How I Work
I offer one-to-one counselling sessions in-person in central Newbury, as well as online or telephone sessions.
Sessions are usually held weekly or fortnightly but I’m happy to discuss what suits you best.
Some people come for a set number of sessions; others prefer a more open-ended approach. We’ll talk about what feels right for you, based on your needs, preferences and what you’re hoping for from counselling.
Get in Touch
If you're thinking about starting counselling and want to see if we’d be a good fit, feel free to get in touch. I offer a free initial phone call so you can ask questions and get a feel for how I work, with no pressure to commit.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and hold a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. I’ve worked in voluntary and community counselling services. I’m committed to ongoing training and regular supervision.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
