It's Good To Talk

I work in a very relational way, I practice being as open and honest about my inner process in relation to us working together.  I aim to create trust and depth in the relationship. It is important for me to understand and grasp your inner emotional processes and what might be going on for you within the session. Normally clients will present the same way as they do in other relationships, so I might reflect back how I experience you and perhaps challenge some of your ideas and thoughts in a way that invites growth and perspective when needed. I will always work for your highest good, and best interests. I work towards helping clients to experience emotional regulation and ultimately freedom.

I work from a solid framework, holding time boundaries and where needed giving care and concern outside of the counselling session.  The locations that I work from are all designed and appropriate for the work we will do together. The Therapy Centres are very comfortable, modern and spacious.  I offer home visits on request and after assessment.

I also use Equine Assisted Psychotherapy which helps clients both young and old who are looking for an alternative approach, to general well-being or crisis intervention.  An initial assessment for 1 hour will take place before starting work. I use specific activities designed to help clients in certain areas, towards learning, growth and healing.  I place trust on clients to self grow and take ownership of their development. A risk assessment is carried out for the suitability of EAP.

Working with the CBT approach. I can help you uncover beliefs and thinking patterns which trigger emotional processes that will cause you to feel negative, overwhelmed or otherwise unpleasant feelings.  I have good knowledge and understanding of deep seated issues related to family dynamics and family scripts given in life.

You can learn to be more at peace through Mindfulness, breathing techniques or visualisation.  Unresolved depression is often linked to suppressed anger which can cause emotional blockages. We can work together to free/unblock these emotions, by using creative material or walking in the countryside while processing these feelings.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

I use my lovely Andalusian horse for Equine Assisted Psychotherapy.

It offers a holistic approach to work alongside people who want to learn about themselves on a deeper level out of the counselling room. The aim is to learn & grow.

To face and overcome obstacles in life.

* Improve confidence * Remove barriers * Grow * Learn * Bond * Build Good Relationships * Learn Equine skills * Improve communication * Enhance Trust * Learn Flight Checks * At Liberty * Equine Activities * Have Fun * Make Friends *

A horse will give biofeedback during sessions. It's a fact they pick up on and mirror your heart beat 4 feet away.

They reveal feelings we would never discover on our own. I use skills cards for structure and education in sessions.

Every client will be given a diary and welcome pack to guide you on your journey, empowering you to choose tasks to help you grow.

I have learnt being in the role of trainee for over 10 years, and human that sometimes people's emotions can be difficult to understand let alone identify or express, especially if they're unconscious or outside/edge of their awareness. If a person can not fully identify their feelings, or patterns of behaviour to articulate them, it can lead to misunderstandings, angry outbursts.

Adolescents can find the path of growing into emotionally robust mature adults challenging. Using a horse can be a fun and powerful way to make psychotherapy work, using the horses in a safe engaging way to facilitate personal growth.
