About me

Most people at some point in their lives have felt so overwhelmed in a situation that they find it impossible to see a way out. I aim to provide a safe and confidential environment for you to explore your thoughts, feelings and options available. My belief is that, given this, you have the resources within yourself to experience therapeutic change. It can feel good to be free of the burdens that you originally came into counselling to address.

I am a qualified counsellor and a registered member of the BACP. My approach is integrative, which means that my knowledge of different approaches allows me to work with clients in the way that is most beneficial to them. I am based in Takeley, which is on the borders of Essex and Hertfordshire, but I also have the facility to practice from rooms in Harlow.

Why not give me a call to see how I can help you to improve your life? Counselling could enable you to have that new beginning.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold the following Qualifications:

Certificate in Counselling Skills
Certificate in Counselling Studies
Post Graduate Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
Level 5 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling

I am a member of the BACP and adhere to their code of ethics.

I have also trained in Motivational Interviewing.

As well as my private practice, I have worked for many years for a national crisis helpline. I also work in a counselling capacity for an Alcohol and Drugs Advisory Service.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
