About me
Hi, you can call me Ki! I know this bit can feel overwhelming so thank you for taking the time to read my profile.
How counselling can help
Whatever the issue, counselling can offer a safe and confidential space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours with an experienced professional. No judgement and a welcoming environment with you always at the centre. You might not even know exactly what you need help with but you don’t have to do it alone. Family and friends can be a great support and they may want to help but sometimes we need a bit more. It's a relationship of trust and respect, ensuring you feel heard and valued.
How to choose a therapist
There are so many qualified and experienced therapists to choose from and with the possibility of sessions online, it opens up your options even more. The choice can feel overwhelming, with so many letters after names, different qualifications and different ways of working - I know it's a lot! Just remember that the most important factor in therapy being effective is the relationship you build with your therapist. You should feel free to "shop around" until you find a person you feel comfortable with - go with your gut.
What to expect from me
I am always authentic, friendly and down to earth. I aim to help you feel at ease from the very first contact - I know how daunting this part can feel. We will explore what you are hoping to achieve and together, agree on the most suitable approach. We will review progress regularly and you are always in control. We work together. You are totally unique and there is no one size fits all, which is why I use an integrative approach, ensuring I tailor my support to you as an individual. Whilst I specialise in stress and anxiety, I have experience working with a range of issues and I am here to support you.
Support for children
With a background in secondary and special education, I have over 20 years experience working with children. Alongside my therapy practice, I work part time as safeguarding lead for a Multi Academy Trust. I am a qualified teacher and have seen first hand the increasing difficulties young people are experiencing with their mental health, particularly around anxiety. It can be incredibly challenging to see your child struggling but counselling can be a great option if they are willing. If you are a parent seeking support for your child, I am always happy to have an initial chat with you first and then arrange a video call with you both together so that they have the opportunity to see if they feel comfortable working with me.
What do do next
Take advantage of my free initial consultation. There is no obligation and it will allow you the opportunity to see whether we might be a good fit. Also feel free to have a look at my social media and website to find out a bit more about me. As a working mum to an 8 and 6 year old, I know how challenging it can be to manage the pressures of daily life but it doesn't have to be a constant struggle. You probably already know that you have the power within you to make positive changes in your life and I can help you to harness that inner strength.
Whatever has brought you here, you should be proud that you've taken this important step. Asking for help is never a sign of weakness. Knowing when you need support is a sign of self awareness and asking is a sign of strength.
I look forward to hearing from you.
