About me
Be yourself well. Michael Whitmore MBPsS, Adv. Int. Dip REBT/CBT, MBA, MA, BA(Hons). I bring over 30 years experience of working in health and wellbeing. You'll feel heard and understood, gaining tools and new approaches. A qualified CBT counsellor. Available for a free initial chat. We work through things happening and beliefs, feelings and thoughts that don't feel right or are keeping you stuck or upset somehow. I am a published research author on different aspects of wellbeing, especially workplace wellbeing.
Beliefs and rules that we live with usually get us through life well. Sometimes it's helpful to consider ways of thinking and living that may have worked well for us before but might not be working so well for us now. I integrate CBT approaches with approaches such as mindfulness, quantum psychology, image work. My career has ranged from working in GP and community settings through to leading in executive global corporate roles. As well as my role as a Therapist, I also lead research in health and wellbeing. In therapy, I'll provide you with the tools and understanding to make sense of your situation and how to feel mentally well. Key aspects are built on CBT/REBT Therapy, which you'll be able to apply to make sense and resolve your current situation or any that might arise in the future.
Privacy is at the heart of what I do and I take confidentiality and protection of your data very seriously. For instance, all of my email communications are encrypted using Proton mail, which is even more secure than some common email providers. Much of what I do I can personalise to you.
Clients I have worked with include those dealing with feelings of anxiety, anger, exhaustion, burnout or depression. I've worked with those wanting to change behaviours or achieve something different, as well as those experiencing physical symptoms that are brought on by stressful situations. I also specialise in wellbeing in workplace and executive settings. Sometimes it's the behaviours of other's that bring people to therapy or an onset of thinking or doing things that weren't happening or being felt before. My in-person practice is in Clapham Common, London. I can also run sessions online.
Appointments are available on Fridays. A first step may feel difficult for many reasons. Don't worry, you'll make that step when you're ready.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society This Not For Profit association of counsellors and psychotherapists aim to support the counselling profession, members and training organisations. In 2013 the NCS register was accredited by the Professional Standards Authority under the Accredited Voluntary Register Scheme. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
